VS 2008 RTM soon... how soon will you use it?   Topic List   < Prev Topic  |  Next Topic >

Re: [altnetconf] ReSharper 4 | Was: VS 2008 RTM soon... how soon will you use it?

For me (and others I know have mentioned it) its about how we code, not what
features tool x has over tool y. R# is more fluid and helps me keep my momentum
when doing TDD.

Ouch. At least the CodeRush switch would be your personal pain.

I, on the other hand, have been using CodeRush in Orcas Beta2 for over
a month. I can use the lambda to anonymous delegate refactoring and
then use the anonymous delegate to method refactoring. Its support is
very nice.

I'm glad we have a choice of tools here, even if we don't have the
same choice in IDE's. SharpDevelop is great, but it is not Visual
Studio+CodeRush. I think if I had Visual Studio without CodeRush, I'd
probably choose SD instead.

I'm also glad to be on the better side of the choice in this case.
Have fun waiting for C# 3 support. I've already got it ;p

But what I don't understand is all of the R# fans dislike of CodeRush.
I acknowledge that both are great and that I simply prefer
CR+Refactor. I'm aware of the very nice TDD things which R# gives, but
other than that CR seems to have feature parity. Why the extreme R#
love? Am I missing something big or is it a matter of personal
preference as I believe now.

I mean next major version after 4.0 in 2009. ReSharper 4.0 with support for C# 3.0 is planned to be released sometime in Q1 or Q2 of 2008. Sorry for confusion....

That's much better. I was starting to worry there. 1.2 years solid of no C# 3.0 support would be bigtime suckage. I wonder if R# 3.x will at least coexist...
