ajay, will you take a series of photos and make a video of the occultation?

we can go to nearby monuments eg indiagate, rashtrapati bhawan and take photos
and come back before occultation starts.

Mars occultation is upon us, just two days away, on Saturday.
I will be setting up my telescope and associated accessories tommorow, Friday,
9th May in the back lawns, Teen Murti.
The telescope will be setup and left for the day all covered up and ready for

I have planned 3 imaging rigs.
Imaging Rig 1. 8" Meade telescope, 2X Barlow, Toucam webcamera, laptop
This rig will record 3 minute videos (.avi files) using the laptop, the videos
can later be stacked into single images. Ofcourse at the time of the actual
occultation the videos cannot be stacked into images.
Imaging Rig 2.
Piggybacked Skywatcher 500mm f.l. refractor telescope, 5X barlow, stellacam.
This rig will just display the occultation on to a screen via a projector. The
screen will show a major portion of the moon and a small Mars, but bright enough
to be discerned on the screen.
Imaging Rig 3.
Piggybacked Nikon D70 camera, 300mm lens.
This rig will photograph the wide FOV around the occultation, the whole moon
and Mars. Images will be captured at regular intervals.
Suggestions are welcome regarding any modification in above rigs.
I also welcome members to come on Friday for the setup and rehearsal. It will
be a great help for me, if a few AAAD members come on Friday. There are three
seperately handled imaging rigs, and I could use a lot of help during Setup, and
during the actual event on Saturday.
