Re: Bugs & Mods Wishes

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. You really do deserve an award for this software.
Low latency, clever coding, performance minded design, and attention to users.
If you designed/partner a budget 13 button midi footswitch, and package it with
your software, you could make %100 profit and still best and out-price just
about everything on the market. Just an idea....free is a blessing too. Do you
get hate mail from the big software companies?:)
Well I have been switching between 1.7b6,1.7b7, and 1.7b8. The reverb bang
became noticeable in 1.7b7 & 1.7b8. These are general observations, I have not
set my self up very scientifically yet. I use Win98SE for live performance in an
IBMthinkpad 600x with 320k ram. Funny huh? Just enough to do the trick. I just
used your software to loop live for a bridal procession at Tavern on the Green
in NYC 2 weeks ago. Worked like a charm! Made me a bit nervous though. I had
time to set up & test before the ceremony. I pan the met hard left and come out
of the PC with a Y cable that send the met to a wireless earbud, and the right
signal(no met to my PA. I use a Mark of The Unicorn PC Flyer midi to LPT
adapter. All is triggered by a Beringer U-Control keyboard modded so I have 18
buttons I can press with my feet and it runs on 3 AA batteries. I use all of the
Quickloads and always have 4 loops at my feet. 7 Quickloads are fixed time
formats and 1 is a 40 second manual config for free timing and different size
loops. I don't trust the purity of my midi messages yet. The auto
running/playing the first loop hasn't happened in XP yet. I have only seen it in
Win98 with 1.7b7 & b8. It may be my midi. I'll let you know(It's my problem..I
just started with midi disconnected...no auto play). Am I correct to observe
that the midi commands are implemented in the order they appear under a given
CC/Note#? It appears so. I am trying to eliminate small glitches as I record
directly from one channel to a second. I'm doing alright. I know I need a faster
PC, but I survive on a musicians budget. I have not heard the reverb/fx decay
after I press stop yet. They seem to just stop. Yes, I just tested it on 98.
When I press stop, the fx stop cold. I'm not using ASIO. Could that be why? By
the way, nice just with the reverb. It's pretty good! I run a stand alone reverb
app at the same time as running Ambiloop with no problems..this is for my guitar
only, as I don't have the muscle to channel Ambiloop into it with Virtual Audio
Cable. A great great feature for me would be a Record Next Track midi feature
that would also set the loop time of the track I am exiting. I am doing it now
with 8 to 9 messages. I don't know if internal design would speed or neaten it
up. I acually have to go directly from record in trk1 to a play/stop/record
mesage (along with mute messages)in the new track. A bit clunky I know, but I
don't feel secure from my experience with the solo function yet. I am still
absorbing all the different possibilities here and may still find a better way.
Any suggestions would be welcome. I am not an overdub kind of performer. I lay
down one recording per track, and then switch between tracks. Making the Monitor
FX function midi controllable would be very nifty and groovy as well! Once
again, thank you very much!!

Cheers, G

P.S. My most important wish is getting rid of the reverb artifacts from a
previous setup, when a new one is loaded and record is turned on.

startup is unusual, I have never seen that before. I will add your feature
requests to the wish list as well.

Thanks for the suggestions Peter. Adding the submix volume and crossfade toggles should be straightforward, I will put them on the feature wish list....
