Hi all. I'm considering doing a new website for Amiga users - a
website for the bog standard Amiga user who won't let their beloved
system go. And why should we? They rule. I'm thinking of setting it
about 8 years ago, when the Amiga was king. We review old games like
they've just come out, and maybe convince ourselves that we're not
living in the wake of the Amiga's sad demise. Anyone interested,
please email me. All contributions welcomed, from ideas to simple
support. Also, anyone with Team 17's Qwak on 7.5" floppy is also
invited to contact me! Thanks, take care. John
IF ANYONE KNOWS A BETTER GROUP THAN THIS ONE, TO CHECK FOR WHAT I
NEED, PLEASE TELL ME. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Background: Turned off my Amiga 12 years ago, disassembled and
packed away. Turned it back ON for first time earlier this week.
Problem: I have a C-Ltd SCSI-1000 controller. I *believe* I have all
the "gear" that came with it. (no doc book, but two disks, one of
which has docs on it, the other has HDD utils)
I also have Seagate 277N and 296N drives. When I put the system
away, I believe I purposely erased all partitions just for data
privacy issues, but I could be wrong.
I have the boot disks I made for the system long ago, that has
proper mountlist and system-configuration.
And the docs only talk about Adaptec brand drives. The utils on the
disk don't work with Seagate, EXCEPT for a low-level (?) formatter
titled "Seamat", which works fine apparently.
BUT.... I can't get the damn drive to show up.
I have run a low-level format, that seemed to work fine.
But how do I partition and format this drive???
During bootup, I get an error message that the HDD is not a DOS
drive. It *does* mount though, as the system tells me that it is
mounted, if I try to manually mount it (again).
It's been WAY too long, and I've forgotten what steps I need to take
and in what order. (I did remember to make sure my SCSI bus was
properly terminated, at the last drive in chain.)
Any ideas? Places I should look??
TIA!!
Mark

Hi everyone!
I have owned a Commodore Amiga 2000 for 7 years, and enjoyed it
throughly every year. However, all good things come to an end, and
now it seems to crash 3 minutes after booting up. Because it is such
an old type of computer, I have yet to find someone that can repair
it. I finally decided I would sell all my Amiga games, software, and
documentation, so someone else can enjoy the classics. I'd also like
to take apart my Amiga hardware and sell the pieces, because I'm sure
some of it still works, considering that it had 2 amiga disk drives,
1 IBM disk drive, 2 amiga hds, 2 IBM hds, a great graphics card and
other stuff. Thing is, I don't know anything about the innards of an
amiga. <raising eyebrows> Oh, and my *&#^&* dog recently ate the cord
off the amiga keyboard :P Perhaps I could take a picture of the
insides or something...I don't know. Anyhow, go to www.ebay.com and
do a search for the seller "ladyoftheunicorns" and you will find all
my current auctions!
The documentation I'm selling includes 8 books, covering AmigaDOS,
ARrex, the Amiga Workbench software, Amiga Basic, a hardware guide
for a 2088 bridgeboard, guide for A2286/A2088 bridgeboard, guide for
A2090A SCSI hard drive, and a general introductory book for the Amiga
2000. The books are in good condition, very detailed with good
pictures, and easy to follow. Connect your Amiga (by Dale L. Larson
is a guide to the internet, LAN's, BBS's and general online services.
It's also a great introduction to learn about networking concepts
like tcp/ip, ports, ftp, telnet, peer-to-peer, device drivers, etc.
Kids and the Amiga (by Edward H. Carlson) is an easy-to-use guide to
learning beginning programming with Basic and AmigaVision. It has
adorable pictures and made it fun for me to do things like: add music
to programs, create my own games, make color graphics, learn to debug
programming, and make my Amiga talk. I got this book when I was 15,
and learned every single lesson.
My collection includes software such as: Lemmings 2, Octamed (a sound
mixer), over 15 disks of sound samples to mix with, virus and
archiving utilities, Out of this World, StarGlider, Bill's Tomato
Game, Ninja Mission, Craps Academy, Barbarian II, Overlord, Medieval
Warrior, Sleeping Gods Lie, Unreal, Red Storm Rising (a great
submarine simulator), Tetris, King's Quest II, Carmen Sandiego, Horse
Racing, Starflight, Megaball, DogFight, Quest for Glory II: Trial by
Fire, MyPaint, Deluxe Paint 3 and 4, Pixmate, a 10 set disk dedicated
to getting your Amiga online, WordPerfect, Superback, DOpus, Fish
Tank (a virtual pet simulator), a 6 disk set of the Lost Treasures of
Infocom (classic text adventure/humor games), and the all-important
Amiga operating system software 2.04 and 3.01. I am also including
all of the game documentation, which includes code wheels and
booklets, maps, and posters; everything necessary to use the games.
All of this software is difficult to find nowdays, and will be truely
appreciated by a collector. Total, there is more than 125 disks of
fun!
I hope to get some feedback from someone about the hardware.....?
Thanks, Linda (ladyoftheunicorns on Ebay.com)
Hi ,
I wonder if anybody can identify my Genlock ?
I've just bought it via Ebay and finding info is a bit
Difficult.
First off it's in a white metal box with a foot print
About the size of an Amiga 2000.
There are 10 buttons on the front of which the first
6 latch . On the rear there are a row of 6 BNC sockets
And under them a further 2 BNC (These are video in / out).
Bottom left is a 25 Way male socket which is the supplied
25 - 23 pin lead connects to the Amiga's video port which
Also powers the unit. Next to that is a pot which appears
To centre the external video source.
Next is a 15 Way Male socket and a 23 way Male socket.
I don't know if the later if an output for a Monitor but
You can't connect the video port directly to it as it trips
The Amiga's power supply !
The boards inside the Genlock say 'Rendale Opus 1' this is
On both the main board and the switch board.
I'm told that it came from a broadcast environment but I'd
Like to find more info about it esp what the switches and
Extra connectors are for.
As it came with no extras I don't have any software to use
With it ,though if I can find the installation disks I have
Deluxe Paint 3 that I originally used with my Amiga 2000
Which if they are still readable I'll load on my towered
1200 and my 600 HD. Saying that I can create the graphics
On my PC an export them on CD so either way creating the
Graphics instant a problem but as it looks like there is a
Control port would this have originally have come with
Software ?
Many thanks for any help
Cheers Karl

Hi there
I'm a long lasting Amiga user, who currently owns an A1200 which has
been towered.
I've done one or two hacks for the machine, over clocked the
blizzard 1260 and made a parallel zip drive interface.
I've been out of the loop for a while, waiting for the Amiga's
return.
So if anyone has any Amiga questions, i'd like to offer my help.
Well see ya
James
Has anyone ever tried 64 megs or higher memory on the DKB Derringer
accellerator for the Amiga? It will do 32 megs, but I was wondering
if it could do more. I know it uses a standard 32 meg simm, but I
would like to go to 64 or more.
amigaminer@...
does any one have the amiga cd32 extended roms
i have the kickstart roms but need the extended rom to get cd32
games running
cheers jim
ps: i sold my cd32 some years ago but kept the cds.
so i cant dump the roms myself
Has anyone tried OSK operating system which is/was available from
Tesseract.Pty in Australia? Would like to know features etc.
It is an adaptation of OS9 which was available on the Dragon and
possibly CoCo machines. OSK name is from OS9 for 68xxx machines.

it to my faster email service at home? I'm semiotic@....
Honestly, I fix one thing and another problem beckons. I've got to
replace the A4000 battery pronto! I've poured WAY yoo much money into
my Amiga systems. Two months ago I bought a VLAB Motion system (the
Toccata, VLAB Motion and Retina II cards. Hopefully, I can integrate
all this stuff with my Lightwave and Wavemaker software.
Is there anything I can try to do for you?
Best wishes!

Maddie
I just installed a 60-gigabyte IDE drive in an Amiga 4000 (the
previous drive finally died). I don't have a CCROM drive that will
connect to this machine, so I've had to install Amiga DOS 3.1 on
floppies instead of the preferred OS 3.9 that only comes on CDROM.
I remember seeing a software product you could install that would
allow you to use much larger hard drives than OS 3.1 could support.
It seems OS 3.1 and earlier versions only supported drives up to 4.3-
gigs in size.
Does anyone remember the name of that sofware and know where I might
be able to get it?
Thanks!
