in your grub line to boot Amithlon - what number did you set vga = to?

that number seems to limit amithlon's ability to deal with resolutuions.

I have a lcd monitor with simialar dimensions but I am stuck at a maximum
clock frequency in picasso96 mode of 96 MHZ.

so i cannot change the settings in Picasso96 to match what you have.

in fact would you mind positing your amithlon grub boot section?

i have ubuntu linux as the other OS on this system and it displays the
proper resolution for the monitor of 1680 by 1050 so i know the graphic
card is capable of it.
