THE SILK ROAD LECTURE SERIES

Columbia University
The SilkRoad Foundation
present

"Did the Silk Roads Trade End After the Mongols?"
by Dr. Ralph Kauz, Institut fur Iranistik, Vienna

Friday November 11, 10 AM
Asia Society, 725 Park Avenue, New York, New York

###########################################################
An exploration of the oft-stated view that the Silk Roads trade dissipated
and collapsed after the collapse of the Mongol Empire. The lecturer focuses
on the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) and shows that contact between China,
Central Asia, and Iran persisted even after the Yuan dynasty and the Ilkhanids
ended.

(The slide-illustrated lecture is free and open to the public)
