off-oddor analytical problem

Hello colleagues,

I´m going to describe
to you a special analytical situation in order that
some of you would give some advises and
information.

I am evaluating a sample that was reported to have
a oddor that is reminiscent of garlic or onion, the
sample is a polymer. I analyzed the volatiles and
semi-volatiles compound of the sample using a P&t-GC-MSD system.
I could identify 2,4-DimethylThiophene; 3 and
2-MethylThiophene; I think this compounds are cuasing the bad oddor
problem in the sample. The question for you is where do
this products come from in a polymerization process ?
Were they produced in the reactor? or they came from
the raw material ?
I´ll appreciate any
information.

Regards,

Alveiro
