This group is designed to facilitate outside research done in archaeoastronomy in the Ancient Americas, from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska. It includes, Alaska, Canada, North America, Central America, and South America and Hawaii. It is now including both present-day non-telescopic observations and ancient pre-telescopic astronomy. Hence, the new name Ancient Astronomy.

Archaeoastronomy has been taught as measurements of the stars and the planets, but only in relation to buildings and monuments on earth. There is much more to "astronomy" that is much more than the spelling, of the Maya (or even Egyptian) glyphs, or even reading about the entities that inhabit various myths as gods. This site is to facilitate the exploration of that unknown aspect of the heavens.
