Bryan ~ In my area I can get a pony or small mule far cheaper than I can a bovine..holstein bull calves on grass are 250 -300 & a chunk pony up to 600 lbs or so is $100 or even less if not used for anything...I have shetlands (2) & my paint haflinger crosses...bought a spotted jack to breed a couple chunky mares in the spring..Won't sell at these depressed prices...want to work with interested parties & place a pony with them on lease...Getting too old to keep raising them, but want folks to see how great they are & then they can start their own animal or I can find one for them...there are few people to teach the new comers how to take over ...I occasionally get to see some oxen on satelite TV...love them, but know of no person in my area even thinking of using them...Lots of old folks & the show pony people around who don't use them for homestead work either...We are kind of a curiosity... My web site is www.gsdognpony.homestead.com if you'd like to see what I keep busy with....good to hear from you... VDavis
