U.S. BEST SELLER, DECEMBER 1999 THROUGH NOVEMBER 2000

The Mothman Prophecies (paperback)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0962653438/bufosweirdworld

By John A. Keel
This reprint edition October 1991
275 pages

One of the true classics, a book that transcends its genre. It is a truly frightening account of John Keel's investigation of the reports of "Mothman" in West Virginia. Keel was supposedly the inspiration for Kolchak, the Night Stalker on tv. Unlike that show's monster of the week, this book deals with a variety of paranormal phenomena. Besides the ever-popular UFOs, this is the book that largely defined the (pre-movie) modern concept of Men-in-Black. While not for everyone, this is perfect for the avant garde person on your list, even if they have never read a book on these topics before.

CRYPTOZOOLOGY (Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, etc.)

A great value on one of the best reference books by one of the true authorities.

Some new titles this year: Signals (hardback) (Rothschild et al); Remote Viewing Secrets (paperback) (McMoneagle); The PK Man (paperback) (Mishlove and Mack); Lessons from the Light (paperback) (Ring, et al); Varieties of Anomalous Experience (hardback) (Cardena, Lynn, and Krippner, Editors)

MISCELLANEOUS

The Complete Books of Charles Fort (hardback)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0486230945/bufosweirdworld

By Charles Fort

Find out why I call myself a Fortean (although I do not agree with all things in his books). This is the author who really is the grandfather of all recent books on strange phenomena. It's not easy reading, but well worth it.

Some new titles this year: Mammoth Encyclopedia of the Unsolved (paperback) (Wilson); 100 of the World's Greatest Mysteries (paperback) (Floyd); Borderlands (hardback) (Dash); Arthur C. Clarke's Mysteries (hardback) (Welfare, Fairley, and Clarke); The Aztec Virgin (paperback) (Mini); Father Ernetti's Chronovisor (paperback) (Krass)
