What I found difficult was being able to describe the tasks without seeing the
Windows environment. For example, they might ask you something like, "How do
you configure a printer in Windows 95? You would have to know that it's Start,
Settings, Printers. There are some things that can be done more than one way.
It seems like they only asked me the way that I didn't normally do the task. So
I would suggest just sitting down with Windows 95, going through different
tasks, and writing out the steps that you followed. While they did have
questions from DOS and Windows 3.1, most of the questions were from Windows 95.
The ones from DOS and Windows 3.1 were ones that were related to Windows in some
way. I think one was about attributes, which is something that you work with
all the time in Windows 95/98.

Subject: [aplus] how much preparation needed to pass both tests ?
i am using the A+ Transcender to study for Core. there were also a couple of
websites i used. what i'm doing with the transcender is going over each test
until i miss maybe 1 or 2 questions then more on. i think i have done very well
since i've started yesterday. i think dos/win will kill me. i have a month to
prepare before taking the tests so i suppose i should be ready.
