First we would likely not find much agreement as to what a better world
is. There are also many like
Ken Boulding who wore other labels who did work for the reduction of
violence. Warren Bennis
Gene Litwak and a host of others have make major contributions.
If you think that survival of the species could make the world better
Brock Chisolm would be there.
Probably, those who are making the world better are not the ones to
make that claim. I would be wary of people sociologists
or not who claimed that they were making the world better.

From some of
the great professors I’ve
had, this would seem to be something that a sociologist would
passionately
pursue. My questions for the great minds here: Why aren’t
sociologists more involved in making a better world? Or are they
working
vigilantly and the mainstream media (and others) just aren’t giving
them
attention/credit?
Thank you

"President George W. Bush and seven of his
administration's
top officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security
Adviser
Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made at least
935
false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about
the
national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq.
Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq,
an exhaustive examination of
the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated
campaign
that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the
nation
to war under decidedly false pretenses."
