The arguments so far have been very interesting but our collections
issue is that most if not all the most current imagery we are
receiving into our collection are digital - not film based. So there
is no negative to hold on to in case the digital file can't be opened.
With a shrinking budget and an organization that is determined to go
all digital there is no way we are going to make a film copy of
everthing (espcially shots taken with a digital camera) just to make
sure we can still access the data.
