I have read Brewster Kahle's article "Archiving the Internet" which was
submitted to Scientific American over three years ago
http://archive.org/sciam_article.html. It is a very informative document
which outlined the goals of the Internet Archive. It would be interesting
to hear if Brewster's expectations have been met during this period and
where he sees the challenges for the Internet Archive in the near future as
well as further down the road.
Also, Henry Gladney's emails and pdf file enumerate in great detail many of
the difficulties that lie ahead. It is a impressive litany. However, I
wonder if we are simply looking at a Gordian knot and whether a heretofore
unforeseen approach may dramatically alter the equation.
