This is an Friend of the Court brief written by the Internet Archive, 2 great
lawyers, and a number of librarians. I am please with how it turned out.
The basic argument is that with digital technology, the public domain is
becoming more important because of massive digitization projects and expanding
accessibility due to the Internet's reach-- now is not the time to radically cut
back on what is in the public domain. There are also some good factoids on
how many old books are still in print, cost of digitization, etc.
Enjoy.
