This group is for support and discussion of the Archos Multimedia Players. This group can also be used to discuss any other multimedia and portable video players.
The Archos Multimedia Player came out in August, 2002 and represented a new approach to digital portability. The second generation the AV120/140 came out in May, 2003 and the 3rd Generation, the 300 series came out in June, 2003. The AV400 series, the 4th genereation of players has come out which again advances the Multimedia players to a new level. These are not only MP3 players but also a Mpeg4 video player/recorder a digital camera, a digital camcorder, a digital VCR and a digital wallet. Now there are the AV700 series with a 7" screen and the PMA430 series which is not only a complete multimedia center but also a fully functional PDA with internet access. Then in 2006 came the Generation 4 and is made up of the Archos 104, 404, 504, 604, 604wifi, and 404 camcorder. These were released Sept and october 2006. We then saw the Generation 5 in August 2007 which again are a vast improvement over previous models. All the 605 units have touch screens, wifi, and now can even stream video from sites like Youtube. The next line which came out september 2008 was the Archos 5 and 7 players. The units carried over all of the features from GEN 5 but with larger and better screens, faster processors and a sexy new look. The Archos 5 was then improved by adding Googles Android technology which allowed these players to run thousands of third party applications. The Android players were released September 2009 and came in many sizes including a massive 500GB player
