I realized that I never posted this to the astro-viz mailing list, so
just in case it's of interest...
After an incredible six years in New York, working as part of an
impressive and professional team of producers, engineers,
astronomers, and educators, I have decided to move on. And back West.
I'm excited to make the leap across country to the Morrison
Planetarium. I hope to help continue the Morrison's history of
innovation and leadership in the field, and I'm honored to have been
selected to take part in a team that will lead the Academy into a new
and exciting phase of its history.
In case you didn't know, the new Morrison Planetarium will be housed
in the largest green building open to the public, within an
institution dedicated in large part to educating about the
environment, global systems, and climate change. I find it exciting
to think that we can continue to expand the idea of 'planetarium' to
encompass a variety of subjects -- including astronomy, but ranging
across biology, geology, oceanography, meteorology, and more.
I'll miss my dear friends and colleagues here at the American Museum
of Natural History, and I know I'll suffer homesickness for my
fabulous adopted city of New York. But the challenges and potential
rewards of opening such a phenomenal new institution are too much for
this tree-hugging Western boy to ignore.
