I think the opticians only have small aperture lenses suited for spectacles. Such a small aperture will not gather any light to give you a resonable image...

I saw one too... I saw one too.... !!!! Leonids were supposed to reach their final peak on Nov 19 17:00 UT (10:00 PM PST). I went outside at 9:30 PM....
