Hi Garry, Most of the dirt picked up on the screw gets wiped to the end of the screw by the nut and carriage assembly. You tend to get a black band at the end.

Is there a recommended cleaning interval? Would you recommend cleaning every certain number of hours or only as needed when the drive screw shows debris?

Hi David, I use a WD40 spray can, which has a tubular applicator, and a small toothbrush which fits between the clear upper guard and the aluminium screw
