Dear all members:
I have to first apologize in advance... Unfortunately, this is
going to be a slightly long message but please bear with me...it is
going to be an useful information that all of us should know :-)
Since we created the Korean Language Division, it became necessary
for us to clearify the difference between the memberships for Korean
Language Division (KLD) and KLD Listserve.
As many of you know, before we were approved as a division, our
group was a Special Interest Group called "Korean Special Interest
Group, KSIG". All members of KSIG were and still are members of
KSIG Listserve. All those members of KSIG/KSIG Listserve
participated in creating a Division, Korean Language Division
(KLD). So, we changed the name of our listserve to KLD Listserve.
Now that we have a Division created by the members of the formal
Special Interest Group (KSIG), who were also members of KSIG
Listserve, all those members became members of newly formed Korean
Language Division.
By the way, at this point, NOT all Korean members of the ATA are
members of Korean Language Division or KLD Listserve. We certainly
hope that all Korean ATA members will join both our Division and
Listserve. In addition, please note that you may not be a member of
KLD yet if you recently joined only KLD Listserve....even if you are
a member of the ATA.
******$$$$$$$$***** (Yes, important information is coming!)
For new members who have recently joined the KLD Listserve since
Nov, 2006;
If you are not sure whether you are a member of the Korean Language
Division;
Or if you wish to become a member of Korean Language Division, you
must contact;
Mr. Jamie Padula
Chapter and Division Relations Manager

For current members of the ATA and KLD;
Please make sure that you check in the box for Korean Language
Division when you renew your membership with the ATA.
The moderators of the Listserve can screen and approve applicants to
KLD Listserve only. However, non of the Listserve moderators have
authority over the memberships of any divisions or the ATA.
***Those membership must be processed by the ATA.
There are no fees for you to become a member of any divisions as
long as you are a member of the ATA (new regulation). All new
applicants for a membership of the ATA can choose any division(s)
they want to belong to. Then, each division will process
applications. Each division's bylaw may or may not have provisions
on who can join the division.
Meanwhile, we will do our best to find a simple solution for new
members to become members of both KLD and KLD Listserve at the same
time. This was not discussed among moderators and administrators
yet.
If you have any questions or concerns, please DO NOT HESITATE to
post your questions and messages.
We look forward to hearing from you!
