Re: Maintaing list of companies (bad and/or good)

Dear Mr. Choy,

It is nice to see you posting on this listserv for the first time.

It is a good idea to share information among KLD members so that
there are no new payment victims in the future. I bet some of us have
had at least one or two horrible experience with agencies or
corporate clients. Not just late payment. Some agencies actually file
a bankcrupcy, disappear, open a brand agency under a different name
and continue to exploit new innocent freelancers. I have seen/hear
such cases. And since we are all freelancers usully not belonging to
any organization (except of this KLD), we tend to find out about
these facts too late.

However, it seems like some members are concerned about posting
actual names of companies. According my consultation with my lawyer,
it should not be a legal issues as long as the comments describe
truth, not libel, fabrication, exaggeration, etc. We can look into
this further. e.g. each member who is posting comments should sign a
declaration stating that he/she tell only the truth, post their real
names, update the list if the situation changes, etc. That is, there
are should be consenus on how the system should work if we will have
such a list.

Proz.com is good. But there are a lot of local agencies that are not
listed on proz.com and if companies are a scam to begin with, they
are not listed on pro.com. Also, it will be nice to have one list
just for the KLD listserv members only.

That's just my thought. If any one has different opinion, please
share it with everyone.

Best regards,

Jisu Kim
