That sounds like a newer system if it is running Vista, so that should handle steem quite well. You could get a USB midi interface. Heck..you could even run...

never any within mac , only on a pc tower...sorry...steem and stew..stew worked but not as easy as steem.... i then direct my midi out through a joystick port...
