Hi, i've put a link to
<a href=http://members.xoom.com/HolmesAtari/atari.html
target=new>http://members.xoom.com/HolmesAtari/atari.html</a> , that i found
long ago, and checked that is
working. I strongly recommend the MEGA images, whoa, that
guy did a real good work! .If you cant download,
tellme, i already have downloaded them all, and are safe
on CD ;) . (all the credit is for Holmes, of
course)<br>Regards
Thanks RON, i got the files, now il read the docs
to see how to use it, also the asm. thanks a lot!.
But i has another idea: Is there a possibility to
make the emulator or another software to make that
'sounds' (like CSAVE for cassete), and record it directly
to a cassete radio? (may be easier than use a cable,
aint it?
I think so. I think there is some software called
APE. You use it with a cable from the PC to the Atari.
The cable is called SIOP2C or something like that.
Check the link section. I'm sure somebody can fill in
the details or correct me. Hope this helps.
Hi, a crazy idea has came to my mind.. i have the
real atari 800XL and cassete drive XC-12, and a PC
with internet connection and Atari800Win. Now: Is
there a way to make a downloaded file to load on the
ATARI (i mean, the real one)?<br>Leo
Hi, i always wanted to use the atari 800 xl for assembler, i have now the
Atari800win (i think the best i have found). Does anybody have assembler for
Atari?<br>Thanks
I have enjoyed the emulation for the Atari 8-bits
so far. But, what I would like to see added is
either a cheat finder or some kind of interface to add
in hex codes to finish all of those games that I
could never finish. <br>Like, Shamus. Did anyone ever
finish that and if so, what happened?<br><br>-Sixosix
just in case anybody wondered what that cryptic
line "You've saved the day when the score reaches 1
million points" in the manual meant - it took me about
two hours to reach that score, and once the points
exceed 999.999, guess what happens...? nothing, just the
title screen again!! what a lousy way to reward
faithful players...
Thanks so much Ron. I'm using Atari800Win v2.5e.
I couldn't get the file to load directly. Kept
getting 144 and 146 errors. Did get AtrUtil to work
though. Inserted it as a binary file into a dos 2.0 disk
image.<br>Thanks again,<br>Alan
Hi Alan;<br>The easiest is AtrUtil by Ken Siders
for the W9x platform and there is MakAtr for the DOS
command line, BUT most emulators will allow you to define
a single .BAS or .EXE file to a drive designation
from which it can be copied to an image or loaded
directly. XLSearch might be a good place to locate those
utilities; if not they could be e-mailed to you.<br><br>-Ron
Thanks again for the suggestion. Imagic seems to
translate only certain file types and doesn't recognize the
.bas files. The Imageman is a Unix program. I think I
could do it with Ape, but I would have to build a cable
to hook my Atari to my PC.<br>Maybe next
time,<br>Alan
There are 2 utilities out there that will make
disk images. One is called Imageman and I believe it
was written by Ivo VanPoortin. (Sorry about spelling
if wrong). <br>The other one is called Imagic from
Steve:<br><br><a href=http://www.nacs.net/~classics/download/imagic95.zip
target=new>http://www.nacs.net/~classics/download/imagic95.zip</a><br><br>This
is the site for APE, which is a transfer utility
to get Atari files onto PC. <br>Anway, you should be
able to use Imagic to create a disk image and add the
.bas images onto it.<br><br>Hope this helps!<br>Mike
I recently started selling a few items on ebay
again, and I was thinking what else I had around the
house that might sell on ebay. I searched ebay for
Atari and found there were 4000+ items for sale there.
That got me thinking, and I started doing web searches
for Atari 800s. I was thrilled to find there were
emulators out there that could run many of the old programs
which were available for downloading. What a lot of
fun!<br><br>Question:<br>I visited the Antic magazine archives
at;<br><a href=http://www.atarimagazines.com/
target=new>http://www.atarimagazines.com/</a><br>There are lots of Basic
programs there available for
download. My question is, how do I get these *.bas files
into the atari800win emulator? I guess I have to put
them in an *.atr file, but how do I do that? Anybody
know?<br>Thanks,<br>Alan
Yo, there doesn't seem to be happening much
around here so I'll push things forward a
little:<br><br>Does anybody remember the Activision game
"Pastfinder"? It was kind of a shoot-'em-up thing with a
spider-like vehicle hovering around and shooting stuff, and
you had to watch your radiation level which would
finally destroy you. And there was a sector map you had
to clear square by square, and strange devices to
protect your ship or whatever...... So what I'm trying to
say is: anybody else who remembers this game and/or
still owns the manual for it? I'd really like to find
out what this game was
about....<br><br><br><br>greets<br>the mace
I think Zybex was programmed for both the 800 XL
and the XE. I ran it on a normal XL as well as on a
320K expanded version, and it still works fine today.
But what's GATO? I never heard of it before. And yes
indeed, I need a fresh copy of Montezuma ;)
I could never get Zybex to work. Was it intended
for the 800, the XL, or the XE systems? I remember I
have a cartridge of the sub game GATO. It rocks, but
only works on XE systems because of RAM requirements.
<br>Do you need a fresh copy of Montezuma's?
Montezuma's Revenge was also one of my favourites
but unfortunately time (and bad disc quality) have
taken it away from me :( I still very much enjoy Blue
Max, Ninja, Zybex (truly one of the greatest two
player shoot'em ups for the Atari) and Archon I. (I'm
still angry at Archon II because I never won ;)
Yes, I definately do remember that fun house
game! That was the one where you had to chew a piece of
gum, then stick it on a stick, then poke the stick
through a gutter, on to a coin, in order to gain
admission in to the fun house!<br><br>Dallas
Quest...absolutely! I thought that it was a lot of fun...I completed
it, but with the aid of a few cheats! I liked the
graphics in that game, although the parser was not as good
as Infocoms and Scott Adams adventures.
Yes, I remember the Scott Adam's Adventures! I
played...I think it was called...Mystery Fun House or
something like that. It was cool, but I totally suck at
these, so I never finished it. <br><br>I played Zork I
quite a ways into it, I even had the maps that came
with it and there was one puzzle I could not figure
out. It's all good, though! <br><br>Ever heard of the
Dallas Quest? It was based on the American TV Show
Dallas from the 70's-80's. It is text mixed with
graphics. My friend completed it in a day and I was so
ticked! <br><br>-Sixosix
>>Mask of the Sun- was this a puzzle
game?<br>Hmmm...wracking my brains now...was this some kind of text
adventure, possibly with supplementary
graphics??<br><br>Speaking of which, my first encounters of those fiendishly
difficult games, the text adventures, where on the good old
Atari.<br><br>Do you remember Scott Adams adventures, like The
Count (Dracula), which either came as a text adventure,
or as a text adventure with interesting colour
graphics.<br><br>And there were the famous Infocom text only
adventures too.
Spelunker- Too tough for me, but I enjoyed it!
Never finished it, though!<br><br>Montezuma's- Cool
one! Another one I never figured out!<br><br>Mask of
the Sun- was this a puzzle game?<br><br>Bounty Bob
Strikes Back- Does this one play like the first
one?<br><br>Joust- Awww Yeah!<br><br>Jeez, I cannot believe I forgot
to mention Star Raiders!! One of my all-time
favs.<br><br>Blue Max- another great one!<br><br><br>I hope
everyone else on the list gives us their "Top Ten" List!
:O)<br><br>Rock on, Atari!<br><br>-Sixosix
Spelunker...can I show off at this stage and say
that not only did I complete it, but I collected
*EVERY* single possible item of equipment, goodies, you
name it, inside the whole
adventure.<br><br>Montezuma's Revenge - my version displayed corrupted graphics
the further and further that you got in to the
game...sound familiar?<br><br>Mindshadow - yeah, excellent
atmosphere.<br><br>Joust - yeah, great conversion, and highly
addictive.<br><br>How about Schrekenstein as a good fun 2 player split
screen platform game.<br><br>>>WORST 8-bit game?
There weren't many<br>Hehehe...I disagree. I had plenty
of turkeys!
1. Spelunker - actually completed the whole
thing<br>2. Montezuma's Revenge - one of the best-programmed
games ever on the 8-bit<br>3. 7 Cities of Gold - A
friend and I used to play this one as a team<br>4. Mask
of the Sun - frustrating, but the first GA I ever
played<br>5. Bounty Bob Strikes Back - Discovered this one
only via emulation<br>6. Mindshadow - Good
adventure<br>7. Star League Baseball - had to load this from
cassette (!), a process almost as slow as a C64 disk
drive<br>8. Joust - almost perfect translation from the
arcade<br>9. Star Raiders - enough said<br>10. Blue Max -
managed to finish this one, too<br><br>Now, how about the
WORST 8-bit game? There weren't many, so I'll have to
think about it...<br><br> <br><br>8.
Dropzone, SAM, Robotron 2084, and Zeppelin all
rock. <br><br>Here's some cool
ones:<br><br>Preppie!<br>Preppie II<br>Shamus<br>Caverns of Mars <br>arcade
conversion of Arkanoid (good one)<br>Ghost Chaser<br><br>And
for games, I would love to be able to play the old
"Haunted House" on the 800. I might even port it to the
800 if I ever learn assembly!
Thank You! <br>Actually, I have a large amount of
the games on cartridge and also on disk. I am now
working on collecting my favorites on my PC. I have a
couple of emulators running. I now like AtariWin, I
think it is up to 3.0 now. They have done a lot. There
is also the DOS version of Atari800 which does a
really good job with a DOS2.0-like GUI. They have a new
version too 1.0, I think. This is a great improvement
over the old one as it has a faster interface now (or
is it my computer? I can't tell!). I am very happy
with the progression that the Atari-8-bit emulator
scene has gone through in the past 4 years. I first
discovered the 800 emulator for sale in the back of Frog
Computers Catalog. Now that there are free emus out there,
I am still overjoyed and amazed that these
wonderful feats of technology allow me to enjoy games I
played 18 years ago! <br>Rock on, Atari!<br><br>-Sixosix
I thought of some more to add to my previous list
of great Atari games/software:<br><br>BMX
Simulator<br>Dropzone<br>Mercenary<br>Floyd of the jungle (personal
favourite)<br>SAM (speech
synthesizer)<br>Robotron 2084 (highly accurate arcade
conversion)<br>Zeppelin
Hi there!<br><br>Well, a good way to answer your
question is to point you in the direction of a site that
actually contains these games for
download!!!<br><br><a href=http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~aaronat/atari.html
target=new>http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~aaronat/atari.html</a><br><br>(Rainbow
Walker was made by a US company called Synapse.
Not sure about the other 2.)<br><br>Have fun playing!
(A very recent post mentioned an atari emulator that
you can download to play these games on.)
HI,<br><br>Could you tell me what Flip and Flop,
Trailblazer, and Rainbow Walker are about? Were they released
in England or are they US? I have never heard of
them. :o)<br><br>Thanks,<br>Sixosix<br>(May Fuji live
on.)
