Re: [audible] howdy

I'm in the middle of it, but while it's a better mystery, I think, it's less engaging in a lot of ways.

I had a message from Chris Grabenstein recently saying Mind Scrambler may be the final Ceepak.  It seems it isn't selling well and the publisher is balking. I'm sad because I like Grabenstein's books, but MS was awfully dark with little of his trademark humor to lighten it. Atlantic City was less appealing than Sea Haven as a setting, too.

Becky

I'm revisiting Chris Grabenstein's John Ceepak novels because the newest became available last week and after hearing it, I had a yen to hear the others again. These are entertaining cop mysteries set in a small town on the Jersey seashore.

I like them as solid commercial entertainment, if you will. I think Grabenstein has created an engaging mix of well-built characters, and that viewing Ceepak...

I love the characters. Ceepak is so Dudley Doright and Danny is such a sweet kid. The story didn't matter so much for me except to help develop the characters....
