andre,

emagic have just released an adaptation for the Audity in the new
version of SoundDiver. i haven't tried it myself yet, but someone on the
SoundDiver list was waxing lyrical about it.

In reply to"Wanting a patch Editor for the A2K:

E-magic's Sound Diver supposidly now has the Proteus 2000 module
which is to work with
Audity also. Haven't tried it but hope to soon.

Btw, I'm interested in how other folks set up patches on the
Audity. I'm basically using
randomize to get a bunch of nice raw patches, and then tweak
those to taste. I line them up in the user bank and then step thru
them (using a midi
mouse and a dimension beam controller) in the sequence I want.
   Nice way to work.

One question: can patches that are linked be delayed (how?) so as
to crossfade over great
lengths of time (how much is possible?)
I want to hold one note and have it evolve using a maximum number
of layers and patches.
Is it possible to say, have 3 patches linked (x 4 layers = 12
layers), evolving over time, just by holding one note?
I'm not using keyboards but the d-beam only which allows you to sweep
a virtual keyboard in the air
or simply play an assigned note, same for every patch unless you
program it between patches.
I can also assign midi cc's to the beam so as to modulate the
parameter(s) by sweeping my hand.

Hello,
I'm a new user of the Audity 2000 and I'd like to know if there's a
studio module for using it with Cubase (especially for pattern names)
or even a mixermap ?
Thanks in advance.

Subject: audity2000 as 2'nd sound module for e-drums?
bwolf@...

Hey there Audity users. My name is Bill W and I'm an edrummer from NY.

I've currently got a Roland TD7 set and a drumkat and am interested in a
more melodic 2'nd sound module for layering and assorted other weird stuff.

How would the Audity be for this kind of thing? Are it's arpeggiator
capabilities lost on a controller where you're not really holding down the
keys? Would a Proteus be more suitable?

The one thing I'm not all that interested in is a sampler. I'd rather have
immediate access to lots of sounds than to fumble with disks to load
something painstakingly sampled to be realistic. Plus I can already sample
via my PC and SBLive card.

I'm a big lover of really weird synth sounds but earthy world percusion
sounds would also be welcome for my purposes.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

  Thanks!
  -Bill

I have the vers. 1.00.I have not noticed any extreme panning, but
have noticed that when assigning the drum kit to sub1 or sub2 the
whole preset pans a little to the right.

The main problem with the vers 1 is that sometimes filtering does not
react the way it suppose to and occasionally on some sounds(drum kits
and bass sounds)a plicking sound occurs at the start of the note.I
will list the presets that do this.I dont know if ý am the only one
experiencing this.

hey thanks wolfe,

yeah, i had noticed the same problem with the Audity when i got it home. it
seems
their "intelligent" voice allocation program isn't so intelligent. thanks also
for
posting the support number and e-mail addy ... i've already sent them a mail
about
the problem ... it's good to know that others have too.

it seems interesting to me, that when Emu bought Ensoniq a few years back, they
didn't incorporate some of Ensoniq's more intelligent features (ie. on-line
software-based opsys revisions and selectable polyphony)

oh well, the audity is still a pretty awesome module.

i just joined the list a few weeks ago. is anyone posting their own sys ex
banks
yet?

There is a system bug with the Audity2000 that
I believe is constrained to the 2.0 operating system.
EMU is aware of this problem. I want to share it with as many
other people as possible. I encourage you to test out
your Auditys with the process below to see if you encounter
the problem.

1) Start any MIDI sequencer (Cakewalk, Cubase, Logic, etc)
2) Assign two channels to the Audity. (doesn't matter which, 1-16)
3) On Channel 1, set it to the 'Mantis' preset drumkit.
4) On Channel 2, set it to the 'Angelika' preset vocal pad thing.
5) Okay, now write a short one-bar drumloop on Channel 1,
keep it simple. Do a kick-snare thing, but add a bunch of
sixteenth note hihats in there. tiktiktiktiktik, etc
6) Now, copy and paste that one bar you just wrote onto Channel 2,
so that you have BOTH channels playing the same thing.
7) Finally, either loop that one bar so it keeps playing over and over,
or copy paste it so that it goes on for about 25 or so bars.

   What will you encounter?
If you listen (especially with headphones) that for -no reason at all-
you will notice that some sounds are being panned hard left and
hard right. Especially those hi-hats you made.

Now why did I choose Angelika and Mantis? It's easy to hear
what's going on with these two patches playing together, but the
problem DOES arise in other combinations of patches. Sometimes
panning is the result, othertimes, filtering changes.

I have tried this on about five different Auditys. All the 2.0
units I tried had this problem. I tried a 1.0 Audity and couldn't
get it to reproduce the problem, so I'm thinking it's something
they did in the 2.0 OS that screwed it up.

Now I had said that EMU knows about this. That's right.. I called
them, spoke to a tech, and the tech was able to reproduce it himself.
The 'offical' word from EMU is that they are now aware of the problem,
fixing the problem would require a new hardware OS upgrade. And they
"aren't sure what I priority it is for them to fix it"

So it seems they have forsaken their Audity owners, so that they
can work on and market their next four modules.

Please! Complain, email them. Be respectful, but be demanding.
They owe it to us to fix their bugs of the products we buy from them.

  EMU SUPPORT PHONE : 831/438-1921
  EMU SUPPORT EMAIL : support@...

Calling will be better. I have found that it is not a big
tech support. Everyone with an Audity, try to make the problem
happen on your unit. If it happens, talk to EMU. If not, hm...
and if you can get the problem to happen on a 1.0 Audity, let
me know.

   good luck,

Yes, it is necessary. All Audity software upgrades need to be installed at
E-MU (US office only, world programs may be different). We will make your
upgrade a priority once we receive your Audity.

A question?
Is it necessary to send Audity to EMU in order to upgrade it to 2.0?

hi list (I'm new here),

I spoke to emu (they called me about p2k expansions) and the next day I
decided to buy the Audity, so I called emu back. The OS upgrade is free- 64
voices, better patch navigation system (like the p2k) etc. just call them
and reserve your os, the they'll give you a shipping #, they told me 2 day
turnaround. you have to ship the unit to California for the installation.
I also ordered the extreme upgrade (though I haven't heard it), which has
orbit and phatt sounds, so I figured they must be pretty good, and that
was $149, I think. A good deal for a bunch more useable sounds, and I'll
have enough polyphony and multitimbral-ity to make my own (electronic)
symphony.

If anyone has or knows where I can find the OMS patch list (for Mac) for
the Audity please let me know. If there is one?

Are there any A2K dedicated pages on the net?
maybe I'll make one...hmmm

is this a second update, or is it the one promised last year that would add
extra polyphony and so on? i'm not sure if i'm an update behind or not - as i
thought that the first update was at least shipping in the states (i'm in the
uk)

thanks

I am sorry about the delay in the release of Audity version 2 software. The
recent merger of
Emu and Ensoniq has caused general delays in development of new options. The
version 2
software has just been sent for final beta testing. This will usually take 1-2
weeks after which
we will release the new software.

Please reply with your name, complete address, and a contact phone number. We
will be
contacting users mid July `99 to arrange for the upgrade.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.
Regards,
Emu/Ensoniq Tech Support

I really don't undestand your marketing policy. You had said you would
finish the OS 2.0 soft last winter.
There is no information since the date. You have forgotten that you have
   a product called Audity 2000.

I hope this isn't another Morpheus situation...

Hello there, I know I am a bit late and may have missed the entire life of
this list. Anyway I got my Audity last week and have been trying to hook it
up to my VS-880EX with the digital output; I tried doing this with a Radio
Shack gold coated audio RCA plug and have had no positive results.
Is there something wrong in what I'm doing? If so what should I do to make
it work?

Sincerely
Marcos
