Try this link Rita,
http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/

This is a copy of the original email from Joann10.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following is only applicable to those list members
who have Yahoo IDs:
You may remember when you signed up for a Yahoo ID and were
asked by them if you wished to receive any "Special Offers
& Marketing Communications."  Yahoo recently revised their
privacy policy.  As a result, and regardless if you chose to
receive any of these "Special Offers" or not when you signed
up for your Yahoo ID, Yahoo has set every single person who
has a Yahoo ID (and those who have more than one) to "YES"
in these preferences.
This means that you may well be inundated with even more junk
mail than you are already receiving.
In order to change your settings back to whatever you had
them before, you will need to log in to you account and
physically change them.  Login at the following URL - you will
be prompted for your Yahoo ID and password:
http://edit.my.yahoo.com/config/review_profile
The middle segment within the Member Information (email
addresses) section has a link to:  "Edit your marketing
references."  Click on this link and you will see all of
your settings were changed to "Yes"....meaning of course
that you will receive all kinds of "offers" from Yahoo
and their "partners".
Unless you wish to receive even more junk mail than you are
already getting, you may wish to go entire the entire page
and choose whether to receive such notices.  Also, right at
the bottom of the page are other ways you could be notified
- by phone or postal mail.  Unless you wish to receive
unsolicited phone calls and paper junk mail, you will need
to change these settings to "NO" also.
Once you have finished your selections, make sure you click
on the "Save Changes" button right at the bottom of the page.
Yahoo is supposedly sending out notices to all its users
of this particular change.  However, it is estimated it
will take several weeks for everyone to receive their
notification.  In the meantime....a considerable amount
of marketing mail could making its way to everyone's
mail boxes.
It sounds like cold water has touched the leaf.  Remove the affected
leaf and keep your eye on the plant.  Without seeing it, it is hard
to diagnose. :)
Hi Nancy,
I would remove the leaf, once that starts to turn brown, since I would say
that the leaf is a goner. Could it be just normal old age of that leaf?
If I suspected root rot, I would take 2 or 3 green leaves and make
a few starters, just in case the plant is lost.
Hi Thelma and List:
You might check out AGGS <AGGS.org> for info about Petrocosmias.  I have one
in bloom!  And some small babies--they are so tiny.  They remind me of the
succulents seen growing in old fashion gardens.
If I find time, I'll check my AGGS magazines for articles.  I was ill last
week and this is my first full day up.
Quickie question about potting up.
I know where to purchase 2 1/4 inch pots.
Yogurt and pudding cups make 2 1/2 inch pots.
I can buy 4 inch pots just about anywhere.
What do I do between 2 1/2 and 4 inches?  It seems like a big jump but I
can't find 3" for sale anywhere.  I really don't want to have to go through
the trouble of importing plastic pots!  Anyone know, where in Canada I
could buy 3" pots?
PS.  For those who like trailers, 4" plastic saucers make fun pots for the
semi-mini's.
Another question.  I want the pleasure of seeing one of my violets at the
office during the day.  There are no available windows, just big
flourescents at ceiling height.  I can't permanently install lights, as,
well, jobs just aren't that permanent nowadays.  If I rig something up, I
want to be able to take it with me if/when I get the big boot.
Right now, I have a desktop halogen of unknown wattage.  It's rather warm,
and as it must be above eye-level, it hurts my eyes.  If I fit it under the
shelf, it would be too close to my violet and burn it.  I think it is
bright enough, but I don't think the warmth is good.
I saw a desktop flourescent at Canadian Tire for $35.00 at 14watts.  Is
that too dim?  I only want the one plant under it.  The special plant
lights that are sold at White Rose are $70.00.  I'm holding out before I
spend that kind of money.
Just checking in on your thoughts.  As the halogen is already bought and
paid for, and the timer is all set, I'll likely just stick with it, unless
you tell me the halogen will likely set fire to the place (that might be a
bad thing, I guess).
about getting a floor lamp with several lamps on it as well, but
never got around to it.
Good luck - I love having blooming plants at work. Makes me a
Anything is possible!!  You might try your setup to see if it works.  I
don't even try violets at work -- too much snarling would I am sure stunt
their growth.  BUT I gave a semi "Cool Blue" left over from a sale to a
person in the Sales Dept. about 3 years ago.  It set on her shelf with only
the ceiling fluorescent lights until she left about 1 1/2 years ago (and
left the violet behind).  The violet was quickly confiscated by another
sales person.  Still blooms.  Never been repotted.  No lights on the
weekend.  They do water.  There is no way I will volunteer to repot or to
groom or to touch it in any way because the entire thing is just SO
impossible.  The only thing I can figure is that it IS the SALES department,
and you know what they are deep in!!
Ingrid, can't you change the bulb in that lamp to about 40 or 60 watts?
when I was working my office had no windows, just the overhead lights.
But I had the common desk lamp, don't know the wattage, but probably 40
or 60 watts.
I raised a violet from a leaf under that lamp! Over the week end and on
holidays, that violet was in the dark for 2-4 days! Of course, it was no
show plant, but plenty nice for my enjoyment!
A number of years ago I had an office with an entire wall of windows.
Violets just loved all the natural light and there were always many plants
in bloom. Reds,blues, purples - you get the idea. It looked more like an
African Violet store instead of an office.  One day the Site Manager came
into my office and upon seeing the plants commented that the office looked
very "Festive". I took that to be quite a compliment. It was the most
comfortable,pleasant and inviting office in the building. Everyone who came
to that office enjoyed the simplistic beauty of the plants.
Now I wouldn't want the job back but I sure would like to have that office
again.
Thank you,
    I had heard about the same from many, many people, which actually
makes me free good. The page disappeared after the free web space servers
kept going under that I had been using, and I finally never bothered to
move the site.
Until a few months ago, I got numerous e-mails asking me about the site,
and what
happened, etc... So I decided to update the web page and move it to
one of my "pay for space" web site.
   I now plan to do many updates and add more photos to it. Currently
there are over 500 photos on the site.
Thank you,
Steverd
Does anyone grow a good double white?  I like strong bloom stalks that hold the
flowers up.  I hate when they flop over on the foliage.  Symmetrical foliage
would be important also.
Any suggestions?
Hi Ingrid,
   Have you tried a local nursery? I work at a garden nursery for a couple months
in the spring transplanting the young plants. They have many different sizes of
pots and that is where I get my 3" which is my standard size for my plants.
Good luck, Joan in MN
   Quickie question about potting up.
   I know where to purchase 2 1/4 inch pots.
   Yogurt and pudding cups make 2 1/2 inch pots.
   I can buy 4 inch pots just about anywhere.
   What do I do between 2 1/2 and 4 inches?  It seems like a big jump but I
   can't find 3" for sale anywhere.  I really don't want to have to go through
   the trouble of importing plastic pots!  Anyone know, where in Canada I
   could buy 3" pots?
   PS.  For those who like trailers, 4" plastic saucers make fun pots for the
   semi-mini's.
   Happy Violeteering
Hi Joyce,
   Good Luck on your auction. I think people are getting "Spring Fever"
on Ebay. Have you seen of the final prices of some African violets there?
Like:
Apache Painted Doll Item # 2009986382   $35.00
Pirate's Treasure Item # 2010377029             $35.00
Golden Plume Item # 2009759456          $31.95
12 leaves: Variegated Collection Item # 2009590430              $55.00
12 leaves: Fantasies and Unusuals Item # 2009588993     $50.00
I don't know if that's FUNNY or just SAD????
I am very pleased with:
Rebel's Snowy Bright (8013) 12/07/93 (R. Bann) Semidouble white large
ruffled pansy. Medium green, plain, quilted, glossy, wavy. Large
It did very nicely for me and had lots of potential.  I was talked out of
the plant with a very sad story (legitimate) but have leaves down.  I was
also eying a grower near here who has it in her catalog; I get impatient.
It is definitely one I think will do very well, and that was one of those
"easy to care for" plants.
For the 2 1/2" cups, I use the 4-ounce plastic dixie
cups which are about $1.99 per 150 count.
Here in Washington, I can find them at Kmart or Shopko.
Maybe you can find something like this.
Or a 5 or 6 ounce plastic cup.
Good luck,
Steverd
Thank you Steverd. I don't expect anything like those prices for my
violets. :) It just goes to show how far an addication can go. :D I'd
be happy just knowing they had a good home. :) It took 2 hours for
Ebay to have them up for viewing. :)
Last summer two wonderful people sent me some older varieties of trailers
that I had been searching for.
One person sent me Happy Trails and the other sent me a number of older
trailers in addition to the one (Winding Trail) that I  wanted.  I sent one
of you some leaves etc. back but didn't have a chance to reciprocate to the
other person, as it turned cold here.  I reformatted my hard drive and forgot
to keep those names...blush!
Could you email me off the list so I can send you something in return for
your generousity.
Hi everyone,
I am growing the following Av
Cajun Cuisine (5850) 11/07/84 (B. Sisk) Double dark green/pink overlay.
Variegated dark green and pink, plain. Large
It was bought as a seedling and I only have the description to go by- does
anyone grow this one and/or have a photo of it flowering. It sounds wonderful
but I would love to know if it looks as good as it's description.
Anyone help?
