Description : This is a proposed correction to BACnet message segmentation
handling. It is mainly tied to IP being routed to MS/TP, but could be wider
than that (i.e. anything that causes significant variable transit delay without
message loss). It was originally discovered and researched by Chris Howard
(Reliable Controls) and has been further researched and written up by Cliff

I have uploaded version 10 of DHR-16 (Authorization in BACnet). This document is
essentially the same as the document discussed in Dallas with minor editorial
changes.
In Dallas I did a brief overview of the solution and we spent most of the time
discussing OAuth and didn't get a chance to discuss the remainder of the
document. I would like to continue the discussion in San Francisco with a focus
on the BACnet authorization objects as proposed in the document.

Hope to see you in San Francisco. Thanks David

bi71259
Send Email Send Email

Hello,

Attached is the latest draft revision of the PPR2 draft of the BACnet Addendum 135-2012aq.

This draft incorporates comment resolutions from PPR1, and adaptations to the 135-2012 baseline. For easier reading, the change markups may be switched off by using the “Final” view in Word’s Review tab.

For those that submitted comments on the PPR1 draft, the committee responses are available in the ASHRAE comment database for you to reply to (https://osr.ashrae.org/default.aspx). The resolutions of comments are marked in the PPR2 draft. The respective Word comments refer to Commenter and Comment numbers as assigned to your comments.

There are some open issues around SubscribeCOVPropertyMultiple. See the respective document comments. These will be discussed, and resolved I hope, by the OS-WG in San Francisco next week. It is planned to have the draft complete and voted out for PPR2 while the ASHRAE Annual Conference in Denver in June. The PPR2 would then take place in fall of this year.

Any comments are welcome. Please send them to the Yahoo group (EL-WG or OS-WG), to Mike Newman, or to me. If you provide your comments before the conference in June, it certainly would support passing PPR2 successfully.

Best Regards,

Bernhard

Dave Ritter, et al,

DHR-16-10 seems to give little attention to standardizing authentication, but
this is a problem that we need also to address, as authorization needs to be
built upon authentication.

In discussions at Cimetrics, our IT-oriented people asked whether EAP
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Authentication_Protocol) was considered
as the basis for authentication. Note that EAP seems to be a framework, not a
protocol (in spite of its name), and it appears to be flexible enough to handle
a wide range of underlying network protocols.

Jim,

Are you looking for a discussion of how authentication would work with different network security implementations? Or a standard method for authentication?

Hi all,

For those planning to attend the Denver meetings over the weekend of Sunday June 23, this is to announce the OS-WG meeting schedule:

- Thursday June 20: The OS-WG will have a 2 hours session for preparing comment responses on addenda at, av & aw. Since the BTL-WG will run in parallel, low attendance is expected but we need to use the time for working on comment responses and possibly next PPR draft changes.

- Friday June 21: The OS-WG plans to meet on Friday for few hours. The exact schedule will be announced. We will review addendum aq (Elevator Monitoring) revisions on COV Multiple, review proposed options for addendum as (Command Source Information), as well as comment responses on at, av and aw.

- Saturday June 22: Plenary meeting, no dedicated OS-WG meeting.

- Sunday June 23: The OS-WG plans to meet on Sunday for few hours for completing work on addenda, and also reviewing proposals, with priority on testing proposals.

- Monday June 24: Plenary meeting until noon, no dedicated OS-WG meeting.

A detailed meeting schedule will follow soon.

I hope to see you in Denver.

Best Regards,

Bernhard
