We’ve Outgrown Our Facility
Over the last five years, Bucketworks has grown from a 3,500 sq. ft. workshop with three members to an 18,000 sq. ft. health club for the brain with 700+ individual members and 28 member groups and companies. We’ve hosted more than 850 events a year for the last two years! Our challenge has been to plan our organization’s growth and offer quality programming under a month to month lease. To support the many new members and member companies that are joining us, we need more space—our own parking lot—our own facility—and a long-term plan.
We’ve Signed a Five Year Lease
Our new home is the building located at 1640 N 6th St. just 400 steps west of where we are currently located. We have signed a five year lease, with the option to renew for 3.5 more years. Now we can make long term plans, and truly develop a world-class creative center for Milwaukee’s talented people.
We’re Moving on July 14
No fossil fuels required, no heavy lifting required. We’ll do our move with a real bucket brigade—just like people in towns and villages used to do it. We will line up people between the two buildings, put everything on wheels, and roll it over. All in one day. Food and entertainment provided! We want to powerfully demonstrate the Bucketworks concept, and to make that happen…

First Stage Children’s Theater Joins Bucketworks
Bucketworks is also pleased to welcome its newest member, First Stage Children’s Theater, which will be constructing its scene shop in the new Bucketworks facility, right next to the new Playspace and Theatre. “We are excited to begin a real learning partnership with Bucketworks,” said Rob Goodman, founder and Managing Director of First Stage. “This new scene shop is close to the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, where our Theater Academy, Education and Administrative offices are located, and will help us keep our community together in the neighborhood.” Both organizations are excited about the opportunity to share audiences, provide diverse opportunities for young people, and build Milwaukee’s creative expression. The First Stage Scene Shop will open in mid-July, in time to start building sets for the fall season.
