Subject: [barcampmilwaukee] DemoCircuit is a go.
For a number of months now, I have been networking with all of the
people we need to pull off a democamp styled event that will work for
our neck of the woods. We are going to create a casual event, so no
need for monkey suits, this will just be a chance for food drinks and
local start ups to actually demo features. Projects that are
presenting will have 5-10 minuets to show their warze, with only 5 min
of power point allowed, MAX, no really, this is about showing off what
you have. Democamps are really about celebrating all of the hard work
that local entrepreneurs, coders, and inventors are putting into their
fresh projects.
The first democamp/DemoCircui t will happen some time in July or August
on a Monday evening. The event will run about 2.5 hours and free food
and drinks will be provided for the first 50 people to register, late
registers will have to buy their own drinks and food, but the event is
free to attend. I
have chosen the name DeomoCircuit as the brand for
our local democamps, as I plan to draw from Milwaukee, Madison,
Chicago and Minnieapolis if presenters seem willing to drive. I am
spear heading this now, so that we can get a flavor for all of the
great start-ups that have been working so hard recently.
At this point I still need a few sponsors to make it happen, even
though I have a few lined up to kick it off, but the winds of change
and Innovation have told me that there are a few willing sponsors out
there, and we need to find them. I would like to bring in 2-3
sponsors per event at $200 each to cover food, drinks and the location
costs at first. If the events go well, we may need to increase the
number of sponsors, but I want to keep it cheap so that startups can
sponsor event to.
Let me know if you are interested in either locating a sponsor,
helping with the line up demo'ers, or if you would like to help me
get
the site up and designed.
We will discuss this an other project topics at the next Fireseed
meeting, Saturday, July 7th, 10am. If you want breakfast be there by
9am so we can socialize a bit and then get right into business at
10am. We have a lot to cover.
