Re: Whats your favorite pummer curcuit?

My thoughts on the few I've built: (gates used)

I like SB's BEP pummer (biCore Pummer). It gives a consistant rate
(flash/min) and a nice fade too. It tends to be a little more energy
hungry, due to the 1000uf cap, I guess. (4x240 inverters)

"Cricket" is a neat little circuit. It illistrates the SIMDv2 quite
well. It does have the downside of the LED's being run between Vcc.
and Gnd. This limits the max charge on the cap to the add Vf of the
LED's. Nice way to keep a cap from over charging.(2x '14 inverters,
one is part of the SE)

Wilf's "mini multi pummer" (now in the files section) It gives a
nice fade, but the rate between flashes is dependent on the main
cap's charge. It flashes faster with a higher charge in the main
cap. As the charge drops the flash rate slows down. Can be a nice
effect.(2x '240 inverters)

I like... hate.. like, the chaos pummer. Neat Flasher that soon as
you think you can predict it, will change the pattern, or pause
seemingly indeffinately. It natire makes me feel as if I did not
wire it right. So I have yet to get it past the breadboard. I do not
think it would solarize well, with all those swinging gates.(6x '14
inverters)

I too have been intimadated by the Lightning Storm Pummer.(2x whole
240's)

My Hit Miss Pummer gives a neat quasi-random flash (Pummer Firefly,
in the files section). It turns on the LED and the "flash cap" with
different oscilators, so some times they hit in sync. It gives a
nice multiple flashes as the flash cap discharges is spurts well the
LED is switched active. As the charge of the main cap drops, the
multi flashes give way to sporatic flashes. (3x '14 inverters,
really ony 2 are needed the 3rd is part of the SE)

Wilf's PowerSaver Flasher (SolarRegulator, just the flasher part)
gives excellent energy perormance. Not as bright as the others, no
fade, but it out last most of those I have built. (1x '14 inverter)

Wilf's High Efficiency Flasher (SPSHv3 flasher) gives bright
flashes, with little fade. It is described as having a current draw
of only 100uA. That's in "mico" mot "milli" Wow! (2x '240
inverters)

Each has it own strengths and weaknesses. That's why a good mix of
each will fill my garden.

Well that's all I got.
Any others to throw in the mix?
I'd love to try them.

All of this talk of pummers has made me want to build one. I think I might add one to my latest bot, (the one with a PIR motion detector and Schmitt inverter...

The Christmas lights look to be a discrete flip-flop. So half would be on and the other half off, then those that were on turn off, and those that were off...

It's a little more interesting than that, as the two halves of the circuit affect each branch in different ways. Some LEDs blink on and off, some blink and...
