-Thanks for the welcome back. Been tweaking robots in my collection. There are two new pics, each of a bicore headbot, in the Photo Album (for Jonjb). I have a...
I am building a very small version of Wilf's uCrawler using a planetary geared pager motor from solarbotics. I have built the circuit and directly attached...
Hi Mike, Maybe you could attach a spring to centre the leg after it has turned left or right? The spring would act as a "soft" mechanical stop as it would...
Thanks for replying - I can definitely give that a shot. I was not sure if there as an actual need for the servo pot beyond centering the legs. If that is...
I've had mixed results with kits. Seems I often do better building robots from scratch. Yesterday I tried building a symet from a kit. The solar engine was...
Just a gentle word of warning. CD players (and probably DVD players) use IR lasers that pose a special risk. Since IR is invisible - there is a MUCH higher...
You also need to use a bit of flux. There doesn't seem to be enough in the rosin core solder... Keith Maker of Things http://akapplegarth.us/ ... -- Keith...
Sounds like you need a bigger soldering iron, the motor case isn't getting hot enough. A bigger iron will heat the spot to be soldered without getting the...
The flux helps the heat transfer, but if you use a big enough iron to get the flux in the cored solder hot enough to do its job then you don't need extra flux....
Bwahahaha! Yes, flux will do, flux and a higher wattage iron..But there is another overkill way! Bwahahaha! MAke a spot-welder! I've made one i use to weld...
Amit, Â Sorry for off topic. But I am also interested in your spot welder. I always want to have a permanent and strong connection in some of my bots chassis...
Hey guys, Kieth, John, Here is a link with instructions, etc: http://hackaday.com/2009/06/23/how-to-build-your-own-spot-welder/ This is a great site for hacks...
Hey All, I had posted some info on my new walkman type bot, specifically it's ability to run. How it works is by selecting another set of resistors, or...
GThanks. Probably time to upgrade soldering iron since it's showing signs of wear and tear, big time. Btw: a spot welder? That's something interesting to...
Hello all, are your robots looking for some time out to play? The Canadian National Robot Games are coming soon November 21, 22 at the Ontario Science Center....

I am not too certain about the instructions for wiring in "Herbie the photovore's" eyes. Do I solder the negative leads to Pin 6 on the LM386 and positive...
What circuit are you working from? From memory, you should have a 1kohm resistor and an LED in series across the power rails. +ve rail -> 1kohm -> ordinary LED...
