Personally, I would go with the larger aperature. Typically I find that resolution is equal to how good your eyesight is and the types of eyepieces you use....

I agree with Dave. Go for a 12.5" Discovery PDHQ. It is only $150 more than the 10" and here you have a serious telescope. For me anything less than a 12"...
