POSITION: Principal Software Engineer (full-time permanent postion)
LOCATION: Boston MA area
Company Background: Company was founded in 2002 by a distinguished
team with a strong track record in bringing advanced electro-optical
systems to market and successfully launched its products to leading
players in Homeland security and safety, life sciences, commercial,
and telecommunication markets. The corporation has a commercialized
portfolio of subsystem level products and is currently developing
high performance handheld chemical detection solutions based on
proprietary "optical engines" technology. These products are made
possible by breakthroughs in high performance semiconductor lasers,
broadband sources, novel spectroscopic techniques, amplifiers, thin-
film optical filters, MEM based sensors, extremely dense precision
optical packaging, and novel system level solutions. Company has
successfully developed and shipped high performance NIR product for
homeland security and chemical detection, high performance visible
laser systems for life sciences, and integrated sources for
scientific/industrial applications. The Company is working with
leading government agencies on grants for medical and industrial
applications.
Description: This individual will be responsible for developing and
implementing spectral matching algorithms to allow efficient and
robust data classification and searching of a large spectral database
of materials. This individual will support hardware design engineers
and embedded system programmers in the development of handheld
optical detection solutions. As a start-up we are looking for a "do-
er" capable of making a significant individual contribution. Prior
experience at a start-up is a plus.
Candidates with backgrounds in Chemometrics, BioInformatics,
Biometrics, Thermoelectronics and/or Artificial Intelligence would
rank highest in consideration.
Requirements:
*Must have strong experience with C++, algorithm development and
Matlab in one of the above industry or technology environments
*MA, MS or PhD preferred (new grads will be considered)
*At least 3 years of experience in spectral pattern matching and
classification with a successful track record of algorithm
development
*Clear and concise written and oral communication skills
