Re: Pissed off at Pearson Vue for retaining my prints

This is a good example of the importance of biometric deployers
explaining how and why biometrics are being used. It should not be
surprising to know that many of the individuals operating biometric
devices may not necessarily be experts in the usage of the technology;
they are simply given basic instructions and follow them.

All this being said, it seems like ixtabai2 is misunderstanding the
situation and the NREMT administrators were not aware enough about how
the biometrics were being used to correct him/her.

ixtabai2, if this is the first time you have ever taken a test with
Pearson Vue, chances are they never had your fingerprints prior to
your registration for the NREMT. Most likely, they were asking you to
submit your fingerprint the first time for ENROLLMENT and not
verification. The second time - which is probably at a station near
the entrance of the testing area of the facility - they would be
VERIFYING your fingerprint to confirm that you, the individual who
intends on gaining access to the testing computers, is indeed the same
individual who registered (in case you went to the bathroom, say, and
tried to have someone replace you).

I can see why they would say that they are taking your fingerprint to
verify you - they are - but only in the second instance, not the
first. More likely than not this is an issue of a test administrator
using the term VERIFICATION colloquially without cognizance of the
implications that has to one who is in the biometrics industry.
