Hi:
I've just released a new version of Bitakora (0.1.10).
This release is just a bugfix release, in which the creation of new
comment ids is fixed.
If a certain post had some comments and one of them except the last was
deleted, no more comments could be added, because of an incorrect
creation of comment ids.
You can download this release from http://www.codesyntax.com/bitakora
Enjoy!

Hi,
This is a regular "Zope Emergency User" problem, not specific to Bitakora.
Here is where you should read to create an Emergency User that will allow
you to log in into Zope again:
http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/Security.stx#4-17
Good luck!

Suddenly, without any particular reason I can see, Zope has started
demanding a password when I try to delete comments (spam mostly). I
haven't used the ZMI in a while and don't remember what password I set
on Zope so I'm kind of stuck. Is there any way to recover/reset the
password in Zope? Also, any idea why this would suddenly start
happening?
Luckily the comments are moderated so they don't appear on my blog, but
it's annoying to have a bunch of unpublished and undeletable comments
lying around.
Thanks,
Cliff

Found the answer to my question at:
http://mail.ikaaro.org/pipermail/itools/2005-November/000420.html
I think I found what I needed at
http://www.ikaaro.org/download
Excerpt from:
http://mail.ikaaro.org/pipermail/itools/2005-November/000420.html
But if what you want is Localizer, you should use itools 0.9.3, which does
work with Python 2.3 (support for 2.3 was dropped with itools version 0.10).
So you need:
- itools 0.9.3
- iHotfix 0.6.1
- Localizer 1.1.2
This way you will be able to keep Python 2.3. The web page for individual
downloads is "http://www.ikaaro.org/download/index.html". Or better, just
download:
http://www.ikaaro.org/download/localizer/Localizer-1.1.2-metapackage.tar.gz

Subject: [bitakora] itools requires Python 2.5
I would like to try out Bitakora, but it looks like itools v0.14.6
(http://www.ikaaro. org/itools), one of the Localizer dependencies,

We are running Zope 2.8.7 with Python 2.3.5. Is there a version of
itools that will work with this combination?

No, it's not an abandoned project, but I am busy with other projects to
take care of Bitakora :)
We haven't added any new feature to Bitakora recently, but just do some
bugfixes. I have just uploaded the latest (0.1.9) version.
Currently in my to-do list regardin Bitakora, I have the following items:
- A public SVN server.
- Refactor the code and use Zope3/Five patterns. I have some ideas
regarding this, but no time yet to sort them.
If any of you have some ideas regarding more features, improving the
actual code or ideas regarding Zope3/Five, send them here please, they
will be welcomed :)
Thanks for using Bitakora,
Mikel

Hi. I've been playing around with your excellent Bitakora weblog product - it's
very nice.
Thanks for keeping it open source and using Zope/Python.
So my question:
I would like to modify some aspects of the product contained mostly in dtml
files in the ui
folder. I notice that some of these files are loaded into the ZMI to be edited
(/ui/
communityTemplates) and some are not (just in /ui).
If I would like to modify those files that ARE NOT LOADED into the ZMI - would
you suggest
that I edit those files directly on the filesystem ... or should I modify the
"load" functions (i.e.
_addMethods _addTemplates _addContent ... etc. etc.) to load all the files I
plan to change?
Just want to be the most compatible with where you are going in a future
release.
Thanks again for a real nice Zope product.

En la última versión de Bitakora (que estamos probando) existe la opción
de activar un CAPTCHA (lo de los caracteres para que el mensaje sea
aceptado), pero estamos haciendo pruebas. Cuando esté avisaremos.

It's in the filesystem inside the 'ui' folder.

You can send us your file, and after checking it, we can integrate it in
the product.

Not yet, perhaps in the future... Complete 10 articles are shown in the

I see that it's disabled in "bitakora_edit_js" where ever that is. I've
tried my best to locate it both in the filesystem and in the ZMI to no
avail. I assume it's in the database? Is there anyway to edit it or
simply get rid of it?

Yep, Bitakora includes its own EpozPostTidy.py which has a part that
replaces whitespace. Not a good default. I'm removing it from my
install for the time being, but I'm already hacking up so much stuff
just to make Bitakora usable that I'm starting to fear an upgrade.
Cliff
I primarily blog about programming, configuring software, etc. So far
I've found it next to impossible to not have Epoz/BitaKora mangle any
code snippets I insert. The major problems are inserting <br /> tags
inside the <pre> tags and eating whitespace.
Problems I've had, things I've tried:
1) There is supposedly a "Preformat" item for Epoz. I don't see it.
2) I've tried editing directly in HTML (checking the "HTML" box), not
using Epoz and inserting <pre> tags by hand.
3) I modified the Epoz/__init__.py to not import Tidy (this helped a bit
- it stopped inserting <br /> tags in the <pre> elements but still eats
whitespace).
So it looks to me as if Epoz was inserting the <br /> tags, but it also
looks like Bitakora is chomping the whitespace (especially bad for
posting Python code <wink>).
Any suggestions or workarounds appreciated.
Also, I've noticed another Epoz-related bug: when I create a new post,
Epoz is in English (the primary language I've selected), however if I
choose to edit an existing post, it's in some other language. Not a
huge deal since there's only a few bits of Epoz-related text anyway, but
still should probably be fixed.
Regards,
Cliff

Is there any way to split articles (summary/full article) and/or limit
the number of articles shown on the user's front page?
I could probably drop some javascript in to collapse the articles, but
it seems like a waste to download 2k of text you can't see.

Cliff

A quick follow-up: as I was browsing through the ZMI, I noticed that
under the "Users" tab for my bitakora community it gives a list of
blogs, but my blog is missing. My username is shown, but no blog is
shown to the right.
So apparently that's the issue. The question is: how did it get that
way and what can I do about it?
Regards,
Cliff
Hi,
I just installed Bitakora last night and it looks great. One issue I've
been having is that for some reason, the links aren't correct for the
blog admin features.
For instance, the "Manage your blog" link in the top bar points to
"/admin" rather than "/users/cliff/admin" as it should (Bitakora is
named "users" in Zope).
What's odd is that I wiped out my user and blog, recreated it and it
worked. Then my girlfriend added a blog and it stopped working again.
Also, all the normal links (to articles, tags, etc) are correct, it's
only the admin features.
Any suggestions on where to start looking?

¿Es algún bug de BItakora? Existe algún modo de pedir al usuario que
tenga que meter unas carateres para que el mensaje sea aceptado
(evitando así que sea una máquina la que se conecte y empiece a mandar
spam masivo)??
