Speaking of Blassic...
I put up a new page for some of my smaller adventures below:
http://www.geocities.com/dunric/dforest.html
There is a Blassic version of Dark Forest II available on my page.
Also, since Dark Forest 1/2 and Halite are so similar, I placed them
all on this page together. Source code is included with all of the
games, and there are multiple versions of Dark Forest II for UBASIC,
BLASSIC (I believe it runs under v4 of Blassic), QBASIC, PowerBASIC
and Sylvain's MINI-BASIC.
I haven't tested it yet with the newer versions of Blassic, but I'm
certain it works.
I thought about adding HLA Adventure to this page as well, but that
currently has a page itself:
http://www.geocities.com/dunric/hlaadv.html
or
http://members.tripod.com/~panks/hlaadv.html
All of the games come with source code, and should be helpful for
those wishing to start their own (fairly straightforward) adventures.
Halite uses a sequential file (halite.dat) for storing room
descriptions, the game map, items, nouns, verbs and object
descriptions.
The rest of the games are self-contained, and include all of the
necessary game data within the source code.
A good place to start, if you are interested in writing adventure
games in BASIC, is at the following page:
http://www.geocities.com/dunric/howto.html
I'm certain this also applies to Blassic, as I tested out Dark Forest
II on it, and it contained (mostly) QBASIC-style syntax and commands.
I haven't tested it on the newer versions of Blassic, but the
information (for programming adventure games) should also apply
fairly well to writing them under Blassic.
If the interest is there, I may even mirror this page on another of
my websites.
Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Paul Allen Panks [a/k/a "Dunric"]
