We have a long running report that executes SQR against Ssybase ASE.
It errors out after running about 15 mins. in the web client with
an 'Error connecting to server' message. Standalone on the command
line or through Report Builder, it runs fine. Is there a timer setting
in ANY of the services that can be set? I seem to recall this
happening a while ago and we changed a value but I'm lost my notes and
can't remember.

We're running Brio Portal 7.0.1, Sybase ASE 12.0 as the repository, and
Apache all on Solaris 8 - the job factory and Sybase ASE 11.5 data
source is on Solaris 6. Any help is appreciated.....

I think I figured it out. Has anyone else run into this
possibility? We are using Active Directory and recently reloaded
it. When we do a full reload of AD, I have to reassign all user
names. I'm theorizing that the table in the V8 structure which holds
the owner name and document information is altered when we reload AD,
thus looses the owner name.

This effects scheduling the job, as it will fail.

Since we are not reloading AD, I think I'm good to go.

Thanks, JJ

At Miami University, we have a large number of reports
in Portal (currently version 7.0.2, attempting to
migrate to 8.2.1). The reports are spread across a
number of categories; for example, enrollment reports
are in an enrollment section, which has subsections
for different semesters; payroll reports are in a
personnel section; and so on.

Some of our users may need to look at different
reports at different times, and they have some
difficulty in remembering where reports are. We have
worked on ways to direct users to the reports that
they need based on what information they are trying to
locate, and wonder if anyone else has done something
along these lines.

One thing we tried was developing an HTML-based index.
This index provided links to the URLs for report
parameter entry pages. This worked well, but the URLs
occasionally change in unexpected ways, apparently as
the repository reorganizes itself. Does anyone know
of a way to link directly to a report without running
into the shifting URL issue?

By the way, we thought of using the Search function,
but we have turned off this function because a user
who does not have access to a category can see a
report in that category by accessing it through the
search function. Not good.

Has anyone come up with other ideas to help users find
the reports that they need?

Thanks,
Bill Heck

I've seen this show up on Wind2003 with sqr 8.1.0.2. Do you get this
almost immediatly after submitting?

A couple of things we did was put a copy of the SQR.ini from the
windows directory in the server/JF_xxx/sqrp/bin directory.
Another thing is you may want to get the sqr8.2 and then install the
sqrp from that into the JF. Sounds weird but their is problem with
8.2 with Stored procs on Windows.

I am using 8.1.2 Foundation with SQRw 8.1.0.2 and the SQRP from 8.2
so far been no problems

Cheers,
Rob

Hi Again,

I have done some further investigation to try to get around this
error. I republished the report and forgot to check the PDF output
box and the report decided to run in the background. When I checked
the PDF box, the report stopped running again in background mode.

I then renamed the SQR file from lp_008_1_eff_attempt.sqr to
lp_008_0.sqr and republished it again. The report then worked
correctly with the PDF output working as well.

What a strange bug. Hope this can assist someone in the future if
they ever encounter the same error.

Hi All,

We are using the 8.1 portal and we have an SQR report that is
returning the error message "1300307". Normally to find out what the
error might be, we run the report in Foreground mode instead of
background. When we do this, the report runs and produces the correct
output.

Has anyone else encounted this error message when running SQR reports
in background mode.

We are running SQR v8 against a SQL Server 2000 database if this
helps.

Regards,
Ian

I have been tasked with setting up a change control system for a Brio
Performance Suite 8 system.

We want to automate the process of moving content (typically BQY's and
SQR's) from test to production. My first thought is to write SDK scripts to
do the loading and setting of document properties.

We also want to use a Version Control system (currently using CVS for other
apps) to manage the development process.

I'm wondering what other Brio 8 or Portal 7 customers have done in this
area.

Thanks, Steve.

We have a query that runs about three minutes then returns the
error "The Data Access Service has timed out." In the Local Service
Configurator the DAS1 min idle time is set to 10 minutes. Is there
another Configurator parameter that could be creating this error? Any
ideas greatly appreciated.

Version 8 portal. I've published a bqy as a job that contains four
queries that are SQL stored procedures. The job runs, the queries
run, but when I open the bqy, only three of the result sets are
populated. The largest one is empty. But... all the pivots from the
missing result set are populated. Could there be a size limitation on
results in the job output? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

Currently we are in the process of migrating the
existing bqy documents from brio 6.1 to brio 8.0. I
need to test the same in the new environment. Is there
any evaluation version available for brio 8.0. If so
pls kindly let me know the URL. Any type of other work
around always welcome.

Thanks in advance
Prasanna.

Bill,

We just completed updating about 40 param pages here at OSU.
Basically the Smart forms have been simplified down significantly in
Brio8. Our forms were a combination of the "auto generated" forms
of Brio Portal 7.x and an old reporting system, so I am not sure each
of the reference points in the document segment below will match your
forms exactly. Here is the text of a document we wrote here for our
developers.
============================================================
Brio 8 SQR Parameter Form Updates

In Brio8, the parameter pages are greatly simplified, which reduces
the overall size and complexity of each form. The parameter forms in
the current version of Brio had to perform three separate actions for
the SQR jobs:
1. displayed when running the job
2. displayed when editing an existing saved parameter list
3. displayed when creating an new parameter list

The code (elements) for each of these options was embedded in each
and every parameter form. Now, with Brio8, these actions have been
separated out into the central system, which is then used for each
parameter page. The custom parameter pages in the Brio8 system will
only need to contain the code (elements) for the job input parameters
required for the SQR job itself.

Below are the generalized steps for updated an existing parameter
page to the new Brio 8 format.
1. Remove the top <HTML> tag
2. Remove all code from the <HEAD> tag, to the <!-- End Standard
head of Form --> comment
3. remove all code below the <!-- Standard end of form -->
comment to the end of the form
4. Insert the following code block directly below the form
documentation comments:
<!-- this line defines the version -->
<!-- <WS:ONEAppClient version="8.0"/> -->
<WS:Import file="parameterFormJavaScript.imp"/> <!-- imports the tag
to submit the form -->

Note: we have some minor issues with a few parameter pages that used
tables, which require some additional changes

==================================================================
