use cume function and flatten to one record) per individual survey.
This a TOTALLY freeform report and the responses can vary in length
from 1-2 words to 2000 words for many of the questions. Other
questions are ratings and mutli-selections. If I set the report to

it's issues as it likes to "clip" data that slides from one page to

My client wants to monitor the errors of Hyperion Performance suite 8.5

So before that they want to know which errors are FATAL and NON FATAL.

I mean for which errors actions need to be taken.

Is there any way to categorise errors based on FATAL/NON FATAL

There is an extensive migration help document available from Hyperion
Support (now Oracle Support?).

However, if you don't need to copy/migrate loaded development
documents, it will be a lot faster to just do a new installation.

Hi Andre,

You are absolutely correct. I have them right in my current
experiments, but somehow they got turned around when I reorganized
the picture for this issue.

It seems that Brio has an issue with joining DB2 tables to local
tables. I have been making successful comparisons between local
results and local tables. I am, in fact, on my way now to get my
tables added to the DB2 data store where it should work better.

Thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate it.

Best of everything,

Bill

Hi Bill,

I had a look at your document, and it looks like you've got
the 'outer joins' sitting the wrong way round.

Brio has a bit of a bug in the 'outer join' joins when working with
local results.
The trick is to get the + sign on the right side, no matter what the
join direction says (i.e. left or right).
With the right side I mean that the + sits on the side of the table
that you want ALL the results from.
I believe in your case that is the table on the left hand side?

I also have experienced problems with trying to link more than one
table at a time when using outer joins in local results.
The work around is to have a query with your main table, outer join
one table, and then insert another query, use the local results from
the first query and join them up to the next local results, and if
you have a third set, insert another query, pull in the results from
the second and join to the next set, etc.etc.

good luck,
André

I am using Hyperion (BRIO) Explorer 8.3.

Does anyone know of a quick way ( command or query ) to answer the
following questions:

(a) All the tables that contain a particular field or attribute ?

(b) the number of rows in a table ?

Our data mart has more than 800 tables.
Many of the tables have between 150 and 200 attributes.
So, examining each one of them for specific fields is not practical.

Thank you,

Hi all,

I have been trying for some time to build a query that, for several
reasons I think are good, I am using local tables to lookup
information based on the content of the DB2 table. The second works
just fine in that is adds the correct operating carrier based on a
flight range and a booking date.

However, when I added a second and third tables to add some colums to
my query, I no longer get the information in the DB2 table, however,
I do get the information in the local table. The sense of the Joins
to the second and third tables is such that it should return all the
rows from the DB2 table and those rows in the local tables that
match. What actually happens, is that I get all the items (precisely
all 245 of 245, or 34 of 34) from the local tables, but none of the
items from the DB2 table. Changing the sense of the join from left
to right produces no results at all.

Anyone have any idea what is going wrong?

I have two screen shots I will try to post that shows what I am
doing.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi,

Create a DSN for the text file
Prepare a simple query and run it

Use the results of the query with this Query section.
This will allow you to use more than 1K records

You may have to add a computed column to create a column with the data matching the datatype in the table you are querying.   I have had this problem as well and this usually takes care of that problem.    Not sure about the issue with only showing the first order number.  In the section what was added when you imported the file do you see all of the data?  Is there a column header in the file?  If not I believe the first value will become the column header .
Also be careful because there can sometimes be limits on how many items can be used in the SQL statement that a Local Join Limit creates.  Using the Local Join basically causes a WHERE clause to be added to the SQL statement with a long list of the values that in your case are in the .TXT file.  Sometimes this limit is as low as 1000 values.   There was thread on this subject last year and here was a reply on this subject then?

Open your query and go to File >>> Import Data File.  Import the .TXT file that contains your order numbers.  As you will see, Brio treats the .TXT file as a table!
Now, RIGHT-CLICK +Tables (lower-left) and choose Local Results.  You can now drag your .TXT file into the design area of your query!

Process the query and watch the fun!!!

I am using Hyperion (BRIO) Explorer 8.3.
For many of my queries, I have to use several thousand values for the
limit parameter. For example, I have to query and extract various
data for several thousand order numbers.

I use an external text file to store those order numbers, and use the
Advanced option in the Limit to transfer the text file into the
query. However, there is a 1000 item limit in the external file. So,
if I have 3400 order numbers, I have to run this query four times.

Does anyone know of a way around this so that I can run the query once
with all the limit parameters, even if there are more than a thousand?

thanks!

Have you tested the Local Limit to determine if the 1000 limit is in fact an issue for you?  I do not know that I have ever used a Local Limit with that many items so I do not know if that is a limit in the databases that I work with.

One other possibility if you have access to (or the DBA that can do this for you) the database that you are querying is to create a table to store these values and use the Process to Table option when the job is scheduled (I am assuming that this will be scheduled).  If you are able to do this then you would “process” the results of the .TXT file into the table and then add that table into your database query.  That way the Local Limit becomes an INNER JOIN on the database server.

Depending on what other tools you have at your disposal there might be a better way for this to happen.   For instance using a SQL Server DTS package to accomplish this.

Jeff

For many of my queries, I have to use several thousand values for the
limit parameter. For example, I have to query and extract various
data for several thousand order numbers.

I use an external text file to store those order numbers, and use the
Advanced option in the Limit to transfer the text file into the
query. However, there is a 1000 item limit in the external file. So,
if I have 3400 order numbers, I have to run this query four times.

Does anyone know of a way around this so that I can run the query once
with all the limit parameters, even if there are more than a thousand?

thanks!
ss

Hi Jeff,

Thanks!

Yes.  The column header was the issue with that particular question.

I am still working on the other part, i.e., to make it work for a table with greater than 1000 order numbers.

If it is less than 1000 entries, there is no problem of course.  You can use the "Advanced" option in the limit and transfer the text file containing the <= 1000 order number.

I am trying to get around repeatedly running the query 1000 order numbers at a time.

Thanks,

Sethu

There was thread on this subject last year and here was a reply on this subject then…

Usually there is a limit of 1000 values that can be passed as limits. This is a database setting. The DBA can change it I believe but I haven’t run into anyone who has seen that happen.

Thanks Kyle,

I think this should work.

However, when I drag the table of order #'s, it just brings in the first order number.

Then the datatypes do not match.  I must be doing something wrong.

Appreciate your hint.

Sethu

Hi ss.  Instead of using the Advanced option, do the following…

Now, join your database table (Order Number) to your .TXT table (Order Number).

Process the query and watch the fun!!!

Use Instr() and Substr() in combination to figure out where the / occurs and sub
string the value into first and last names. Good luck.
