Yes, if you have aspell on your system but not ispell, you should be
able to replace /usr/bin/ispell with /usr/bin/aspell in the RooSpell
configuration. I believe they are compatible.

Regarding "Show Resources", Movable Type only displays that link for
plugins that add Movable Type template tags and Movable Type text
filters to the system. While RooSpell does provide a Builderoo
filter, it does not provide a general-use Movable Type filter, because
it wouldn't be very useful if RooSpell was the only filter you could
use for an entry. (Builderoo is required to combine it with other
filters.)

Regarding base filters, go to your Weblog's Settings, select the
Plugins tab, then scroll down to Builderoo. Select "Show Settings".
From here, you can adjust the base filters for your entries. Click
the "Add" button next to RooSpell to add it to the end of the list of
base filters, then "Save Changes". This enables on-preview spell
checking for all (Builderoo-powered) entries.

that's what we're using? etc.

Hi Don -

If RooSpell isn't showing up in the list of plugins (either in the Weblog
Settings or in the
System Overview Plugins list), then Movable Type doesn't think the plugin is in
the right
place. Double-check that the "roospell" directory is in Movable Type's
"plugins" directory.

Once you have that working, you can tell RooSpell to use aspell instead of
ispell using the
System Overview Plugins list. Select RooSpell's "Show Settings," then specify
the correct
command. I believe aspell is supposed to be compatible with ispell, though you
may need
to specify different command-line options ("Ispell options" in the
configuration).

Let us know how it goes.

so i installed Builderoo, and i put the RooSpell plugin in place.

my host tells me he's got aspell installed.

when i go to the Plugins screen in MT there is no "show resources" link
for RooSpell.

is that because aspell is not the same as ispell?

can anybody help?

Hi all -

I'm pleased to announce the release of Builderoo v0.7, a major overhaul of
Builderoo for
use with Movable Type 3.2.

This is a 0.x release, and includes changes that require a complete re-install
of the plugin.
In particular, all configuration is now handled by Movable Type's System
Overview and
weblog Settings Plugins panels. (Previous versions of Builderoo included its
own
implementation of plugin configuration panels. This feature has been removed
from
Builderoo in favor of MT's new, similar feature.) See the documentation for
Builderoo and
the plugins for newer, easier installation instructions.

Several known issues still exist, and this should still be considered a
preliminary (0.x)
release. I still believe cache reaping (cleaning up of unused resources) is not
functioning
in some cases, but in practice this shouldn't be too much of a problem for early
users. See
the documentation for a complete list of known issues.

I am very interested in getting feedback on this version used in the wild.
Please feel free
to contact me directly with questions and feedback on Builderoo, the sample
plugins, and
the documentation. You're also encouraged to discuss issues on this mailing
list, so we
can all play. :)

Thanks for your interest in Builderoo!

The engine is working and the plugins are functional. I'm in the process
of upgrading the heavy duty plugins, like RooLaTeX, to be easier to
install and use. I have a short list of other changes I'd like to make,
but they're mostly cosmetic. And some testing. You'd probably prefer I
just release the thing. :)

I'm pretty sure cache reaping is not functional at the moment, which is
disappointing because that's one of the major features of the thing. You
should be able to preview and tweak a RooLaTeX section as many times as
you want without eating up disk space. These are 0.x releases, so perhaps
this is livable, but there would be effort involved in cleaning up unused
files once I fix the bug.

I'm a little overloaded with other stuff in the next couple of days, but
I'll try to get a version up this weekend.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the incredibly fast response! Excellent!!
That's exactly what I was looking for. I do have MT
3.2 installed already and I've been waiting for the
next builderoo version for about a week now. Just so
you know, I'm going to consider your email a promise
...hehe. You got one week or else......um....or else
I'll have to wait longer...I guess.

It looks like you have an excellent product in line
for us and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers,
Bernie

Hi Bernie -

Indeed, Builderoo comes with RooLaTeX, a plugin for Builderoo (which is a
plugin for Movable Type) to do exactly as you describe. Embedding
mathematical equations in Movable Type entries is a popular use for
Builderoo and RooLaTeX.

If you're using MT 3.16 or MT 3.17, you can download Builderoo 0.6 and
give it a try. If you're using MT 3.2, I'll have a new version of
Builderoo out within the next week that works very well with the new MT.
Stay tuned to this list for the announcement!

If you have any questions getting it installed, feel free to ask the list.

Thanks!

Hi there,
I hope all is going well with the new project development. I was
wondering if you were considering building a TeX (as in LaTeX)
exporter or if you knew of any plugins that might display/create
equation images for Movable Type.
Take care,

I started this mailing list when I completed a early, pre-release of
Builderoo, the text formatting system for Movable Type. Since then,
I've done a very poor job of letting people know that Builderoo
exists, and since nobody was using it, I wasn't working on it.

I'm too excited about Movable Type 3.2 to ignore the possibilities, so
I'm reviving the project for a major upgrade to take advantage of MT
3.2's features. I've also recently heard from potential and satisfied
Builderoo users, which does wonders for directing my attention to the
project. Not to mention being mentioned on the MT 3.2 featured
plugins page.

So for all new users joining this previously dis-used mailing list,
welcome! Discuss installation questions, bugs, and feature requests
about Builderoo and its plugins, like RooLaTeX and others.

Hi all -

Given the lack of development activity on Builderoo these past couple of months,
it
appears I created this mailing list a little prematurely. In an effort to
prevent Yahoo from
killing the group, I'm posting this message. I do hope to get back to Builderoo
development and release a new version, which may interest some folks in the
list.

Thanks for your kind attention!
