Warm regards,
Tobias
Wow - what a great loss to all of us, and a shock. Like you I have always felt like I have known Guido without actually knowing him personally.
So how/where/when did he pass away? I have been scanning this email and doing fruitless google searches to find out what happened. Sadly, the sohne.net website is down.. though google cache is still displaying his website content.
Cheers,

I used to wonder who this guy was! Only after he died, in such an

Guido Sohne (Ghana)
Guido is a Free Software hacker in Accra, Ghana. Guido Sohne has
fifteen years of development experience, mostly from the self taught
perspective of the exploring hacker. He is able to work with Java,
Perl, Python, C, C++, PHP, Scheme and shell scripts to varying degrees
of effectiveness. Working almost exclusively with free software, he
has a broad knowledge of projects techniques and code bases that will
aid integration of disparate technologies. http://sohne.net/index.html

Ethan Zuckerman on Guido
"The point I found most interesting was Guido's argument that most
African developers are so busy struggling to make ends meet - in an
environment where tech equipment costs 2-4x what it does in Europe and
the US, where technical books are almost nonexistent, where there are
no credit cards to purchase from Amazon - that they don't have time to
share, building code for public consumption."
(Won't agree here. That's no alibi for us in Asia-Africa-LatAm not
sharing! --FN)
