The 4th National Cyber Olympiad organised by the Science Olympiad
Foundation -- http://www.sofworld.org -- is being organised on August
12, 2004. Closing date for entries is July 20, 2004.

The Cyber Olympiad is a national-level exam based on mental ability,
logical and analytical reasoning and general questions on computers
and IT. The purpose is to test the aptitude of participants to take
up a career in mathematics and computer-related areas. Students
studying in Std III to Std XII schools can participate.

Participants have to answer 50 questions in 60 minutes. They will be
questioned in mental ability (15 questions), logical and analytical
reasoning (15) and computers and IT (20 questions). Sample question
papers are at http://www.sofworld.org/html2003/samnso.shtml

For details on how to participate, see
http://www.sofworld.org/html2003/htp.shtml

If you think this is an interesting concept, do encourage schools and
higher-secondaries that you are in touch with to take part.

All details are on the site. Quote: "Apart from the Olympiad
activities, the Foundation also conducts seminars, workshops, and
teacher training programmes in the state capitals of the country.
Implementing one of its aims to conduct seminars state-level, the
first such seminar cum workshop for science teachers was conducted at
St. Columba's School, New Delhi, on 29th April, 2000. The theme was:
Innovation in Science Teaching. 160 science teachers from 46 schools
in Delhi took part in the workshop, and 13 resource persons of
eminence and erudition were drawn from IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur and
Delhi University who freely and generously shared their teaching
skill, expertise and knowledge with the participants. For most of the
teachers it was a stimulating, refreshing and learning experience and
an eye-opener. "
