Hi Rich,I don't anticipate much migration effort at all. Take everything here as a water-chiller discussion rather than fact right now, but I would expect that the migration will be almost a drop-in for existing Cairngorm apps, of the new SWC. We hope to preserve APIs as much as possible. The implementation of Commands is currently stateful; a side-effect that never caused us trouble until recently, which we have had to work around on a few projects, and which we never really liked but never really wanted to change. The 2.0 release will be a good opportunity to do that, so we'll *likely* make Commands stateless, and warn people that if they are relying upon side-effect of stateful commands (which would be bad-practice anyway) that they may have to address that.Currently, the ModelLocator implementation is the key thing getting in the way of us making a release to you guys ... the current strategy doesn't work because we can no longer data-bind to statics. The current model locator implementation leveraged this because it made the API so simple to use. We've got a few approaches that are alternative, but which we need to iron out some internal issues on before we release...we've raised a few things with the engineering team to investigate first. So that's the only change I anticipate your requiring for the compiler; that anywhere you reference something on the ModelLocator, the syntax will change slightly from { ModelLocator.whateverToBindTo } to something slightly more verbose, depending on the implementation and API we settle on.If you're migrating a 1.5 app to 2.0 with Cairngorm 0.99 to Cairngorm 2.0, I expect the Cairngorm migration will be a cup of coffee worth of pain.Does that give you sufficient detail and comfort for now ? As soon as we can get you guys the Cairngorm 2.0 bits, we'll get 'em to you. All the Adobe members of the Cairngorm team will be in San Francisco next weekend, so expect us to have this as a topic for discussion.Best,Steven

Since you have made some progress on the new Cairngorm, I was wondering if you can give us an estimate on how difficult the migration path will be.

We've filed this, and are awaiting feedback from the development team.As soon as I have clarity on whether this is a bug or note, I'll put a note out detailing the build of Cairngorm we have for you at present.Best wishes,Steven

Subject: [cairngorm-devel] Cairngorm to AS3 - almost there!!!Hi People!!!
I almost migrated Cairngorm to AS3 to use in a Flex 2 project. The only thing I couldn't do is to make a Binding with a Static Variable (ModelLocator).
I did it in many ways with getters/setter, dispatching events and it did not work. I've read that t it's not possible with this Alpha version. Is that correct? Does anybody know how to work around it?
I want to share it with you but I need to finish it!!!
Thanks and Happy New Year!!!
