One more thing. http://www.syeager.org/300d/forum/ contains several hidden
sections covering the technical details of reverse engineering. We kept
them hidden from general public to avoid any legal problems. I should warn
you, though, they are rather boring. Bits and Bytes. But if you are
interested, send PM to admin of the forum and I will open the access to
hidden sections.

In fact, 300D hack does allow you to save raw in any mode. However I find
these preprogrammed modes rather useless. This is my personal opinion.
Original firmware from 300D was actually extracted from the camera itself
using some UNIX utility "I forgot the name" J So it makes it legal to
modify. But in practice it's easier to work with the firmware update. And
the last, newer entry level DSLR cameras after 300D already have most of the
functions people want, so nobody expressed any interest in hacking them.
If you are interested in the history of the Undutchables hack, visit
http://www.syeager.org/300d/forum/ - this is official site of this hack.
It's practically dead now, but I still keep it alive.

Subject: [canondigicamhacking] Re: 400d RAW hack?
as it says on the home page, there are known software hacks for 350D or
later models because there has been no release of firmware upgrades, which
is required for back engineering. (someone correct me if that is incorrect
or out of date information.)
also i don't think RAW is available for any of the custom modes on any EOS
cameras. That is the nature of those modes. They are for quick easy shots
and RAW is not really relevant to them. I'm sure someone will correct me if
I'm wrong on that, too!

feature on the 400d but found when I got my 400d in the mail today that it
was not.
