The tiny sensor does not produce images of sufficient quality and dynamic range to benefit from using raw. You wouldn't gain anything....

I guess what is most important in raw files is the higher dynamic range. It's besides other things. I don't know about this camera, but on 300D it is 12 bits...

The figure 12 bits/channel is misleading because in a raw file the data is linear but in a jpeg file it is logarithmic because that is the way the eye sees....

If the problem is indeed with the flexible circuit card, it can be fixed (replaced). It is not a easy fix as the camera has to be diassembled to a great degree...
