it's a good idea, the task seems very simple now: get the ".jzip"(this ahven't anme yet, right?) file, upack it, read metaconfig and open the main document.
That's basically it! The devil is in the details, of course. What exactly will the meta-config tell the platform? Do we open the main document in an IFrame or use AJAX to make it appear inline? Should be preload images? Is there useful information we can pass in? etc.
the rest seems natural: relative paths everywhere, define all possible config options, a sample runtime able to handle that zip file and - of course - gather more people arround the idea!
Indeed! I've been looking around for a neutral ground for having discussions around such a standard. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any good forums yet. (If I could, we'd all probably be members already! :-P) So for the time being, I'm hosting discussions on the WiiCade forums here:
The written standards (as they are developed) will show up on a Google Site wiki here:
Anyone who's interested in contributing or having their voice heard is welcome to join in the discussions. I'll of course entertain discussions through email and this mailing list as well.
I'm hoping to have a simple proof of concept ready in the next day or two. That should help clarify for everyone what I'm attempting to achieve, and how the standards could be written to meet their needs.
Thanks!
