Our next Oracle User Group (CAOUG) meeting will be on Thursday,
February 17th at 11:30 at the Sonat building at 1900 5th Ave. North. The meeting will be held in the 16th floor corner conference room. Look for signs pointing the way.
This will be a brown bag event and the presentation will be:
Cloning Databases without using Export/Import
We will be looking at the quickest way to create a copy of a database
without having to deal with the hassles of export/import. You won't
believe how useful this technique can be for creating QA databases,
reporting databases, recovering single tablespaces, etc.
Thanks to ODTUG there will be door prises at this event. Please take a
look at the ODTUG conference announcement below.
Hope to see you at the meeting on Thursday.

of the CAOUG to attend their monthly meeting and pass out literature about
our organization. We'd like to express our thanks to the AITP organization
by returning the favor.

Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP)
The mission statement of AITP is :
To promote the Management of Information Technology as a valued
profession through education, membership association, and high
ethical standards so that individual members continue to be
valuable assets to their companies or organizations, the
Information System Community and Society.
The group meets every 4th Thursday evening of the month
except during summer months, usually June - August, and December.
Meetings are held at the Pickwick Center at 5 Points South.
There is a social hour at 5:30 followed by dinner at 6:30.
The fee for dinner is usually $20 with reservations
The group has an informative web site at :
http://www.libnat.com/aitpbham/index.htm
The web site includes a newsletter and additional contact
information, information about the meetings and board
members. This organization is certainly worthwhile for
serious information technology professionals seeking others

The Birmingham Windows NT User Group (BWNTUG) was formed in
April of 1996 by a small group of system administrators
looking for a way to share information about Windows NT.
Since then, our numbers have grown steadily larger.
The group's goal is to provide a resource to computer
professionals who are using, evaluating or just interested
in the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. The knowledge
and skills of our user group are VERY diversified and we
believe this to be one of the most important attributes of
our group. Our group is located in Birmingham, Alabama
and usually meets at 6:00PM on the third Tuesday of
each month. Check the web site for specific meeting
location information.
HOW TO FIND US!
Visit our web site at www.bwntug.org. Here you will find
information on the dates and locations for future meetings and
additional contact information. Members are placed on a mailing
list to receive additional details on meeting schedules
and agendas.

Our next Central Alabama Oracle User Group meeting will be on Thursday,
September 21st at 11:30am. Watch your email for more details.
Please take note of this special request from Richard Kessler and the entire
leadership team for the CAOUG:
----------------------------------------------------
Dear fellow Oracle users:
As you may know, CAOUG is an un-funded organization
that depends on the efforts of volunteers to organize
it's activities.
We have been blessed in the past with a rich variety
of very interesting topics for our meetings - presented
both by sponsoring companies and by local member/experts.
However, we are always looking for new meeting topics,
new presenters, and new activities. Please help us out
by being on the lookout for people or organizations
that might be interested in giving a presentation that
would be of interest to the group. You may pass this
information on to Jim Hill (jim.hill@...)
or David Wilkins (WilkinsD@...).
We are especially interested in presentations by members
of the group - local experts that can share their
experiences with a particular aspect of Oracle.
If you can give a presentation on a tool, method,
problem/solution, feature, or interesting use of Oracle
related software please let us know. Don't be shy or
intimidated by the 'high gloss' of some of the
past presentations. There are people who really want
to hear your real life experiences.
We are also looking for volunteers who would like
to get involved in organizing activities for the group.
We have only a very small 'staff' of people that have
been meeting periodically to keep things going, and
there is certainly room for more help. If you would
like to help by contributing your time and talents
please get in touch with Jim Hill at the address above
or at 970-5955. You need not make a permanent
commitment. If you have an idea for just one meeting or
project - that's great - all inputs are welcome.
Richard Kessler
