Adobe U is a hands-on workshop where volunteers learn historical and architectural background, technical and practical application, and about the archaeology of early California buildings.

The long-term goal is to develop a trained team that can be called into action when historic adobe structures throughout the San Diego region are in need, a core group of volunteers that can help to protect and preserve these rare sites when the financial and labor resources needed are not available.

SOHO and the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation invite the pubic to help restore and repair the adobe walls of a most treasured piece of San Diego history, Vallecito Stage Station. The station is actually a sod structure with adobe applied to the exterior sections, which are in need of repair, but are not whitewashed as traditional adobes were. What is sod?
