Dear Catoctin MNPS members,

I apologize for the spam you have received and have converted the
group to a moderated list. I realize there have not been many
postings about events and encourage you to use the list to announce
hikes and other events of interest to the group.

The western Maryland chapter is active and you can join their
listserv, as well.

I know many of you would like to meet and develop a program
schedule. Since we do have the listserv, it would be fairly easy to
initiate such a meeting. You don't have to be an "expert" for this,
just interested in taking a little time to find a space to meet or
plan a trip. In general, Joe Metzger is very generous with his time,
should you want to plan a trip and need a plant guru. Because he
doesn't have email at home, he may not respond right away, but he
really loves helping with hikes, so just give him a little extra time
to respond if you seek his help.

Wish I were closer and could get you all together and go for a hike.
The witch hazel is already blooming here in the higher elevation
mountains! Stiff aster is not uncommon and is just about to bloom,
too.

Anyway, wishing you well. We'll see how the moderated group works
out. It just means you have to contact me before being able to join
the group, but once you're approved, then you can post to the group.
