Re: [cbt-tape] Scratching Datasets (not cataloged)

You can do this with IDCAMS (amongst others)

ie

  alloc fi(a)da(blah.blah.blah) unit(3390) vol(the volser) *
 del blah.blah.blah
//

* yes alloc is a valid idcams command

What is the modern way of scratching datasets that are 1) not cataloged, or
2) cataloged on a different volume? I know there is still IEHPROGM, but a
TSO command would be easier to use.

The "modern" way is that in a managed dataset environment (on z/OS in our shop at least) you cannot allocate an uncataloged dataset. Even in batch,...

Greetings,   Yes, that would be a nice addition.  I don't know of anything that does it in one command.  IEHPROGM and DELETE require either control cards or...

Batch or on-line? If you are on-line, the ISPF dataset list will do what you want. If you want bare TSO, then you can use ALLOC/FREE or ALLOC/DELETE In...
