I have a similar system for my ToUCam (home made) and it can only fail if the scope can't focus at the plane containing the CCD. You can check it in daylight

Serena, The adapter is needed so that the webcam will fit into the visual back of the scope. The webcam has the lens removed exposing the CCD and then the
